An researching ancestors of Joel Dalby Vance, d. 1949(m. Arnetta Thompson d. 1902) buried in Oak Ridge Cem., Springfield, Illinois. Joel's father, I think, was Issac Newton Vance (m. Leuery Cherry), but he also had a brother Issac Newton Vance 1843-1921( m. Maria L) that are also buried in Springfield. I have a long letter written to "my dear kinsman" in 1938 by an Ethel Vance Dunn of Oakland Cal. I am trying to connect the family line back past Issac Newton which may be to a Walter J. Vance (son of David Vance, Virginia and then Tenn.) who settled in Illinois, guessing about early 1800s.
