Harriet VanDusen
GRAND GORGE — Harriet VanDusen, 92, of Grand Gorge, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at the Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville, where she had lived for the past three years.
She was born Oct. 30, 1906, in Arena, the daughter of Uriah Haynes and Loami Monington.
She married Merton G. VanDusen on May 9, 1925, in West Point. He died Aug. 27, 1982.
She was a well-loved nanny for several area families. She lived in Grand Gorge since 1933.
Harriet is survived by two sons, David VanDusen of Salt Spring, Fla. and Preston A. VanDusen of Grand Gorge; two grandsons; and one sister, Viola Miller of Sargent, Texas.
Private funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, with the Rev. S. Hayden Walsh officiating.
Committal services will be held in the spring at Harpersfield Cemetery, Harpersfield.
Contributions may be made in memory of Harriet VanDusen to the Activities Fund of Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville.
Funeral arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
