I am looking for information on my Van Dyke family line. My Grand
Father Alven William Van Dyke was born on March 14, 1882 at Billing,
Montana. His Father I___ Van Dyke died in 1882 at Helena, Montana in a
Mine. His Mother was Sarah TULIE or TOOLEY. She married a man by the
name of Johnson. My Grand Father Alven ran away from home at the age of
13. His family moved away from Helena Montana some time about 1895 or
1896, back home to Missouri ? We believe he had one older sister and
six older brothers with one by the name of leroy, lonny, or Leonard !!!
We also think that his sister and one brother was living in the home
when they moved away from Helena, Montana in 1895, or 1896. Thank you,

My name is Terry Lee Van Dyke Sr. I am also researching the Van Dyke / Vandike family name. My line comes from Johns Vandike of Tazewell County Tazewell VA. My line also settled in MO, IOWA, and MT. We also know that some of the family went to CA. My research at times branch out into the PA and or NJ Van Dyke and Vandike family lines. We of the Johns Vandike born about 1755 family line have long suspected that our family may have a connection to the PA or NJ family line. I have amassed quite amount of information on all the family lines and information within my Journal. I will be glad to share all I have.

My relative, America Ann Phillips born 1868 in Buchanan County, Va was married to George VanDyke. Some of the Phillps and VanDykes were from Tazewell County VA. If there is a connection, happy to share info.

My grandmothers name was Jessie VanDyke she was born in Goshen N.Y. she just passed away on Dec. 13, 1999. Her mothers name was Elizabeth VanDyke. My grandmother married Frank Ross Jr.

My grandmother, Bessie Vandyke who was married to Arthur Lawson, Tazewell, Va. She died when my Mother, Helen Keller Lawson Patrick, was Bessie Vandyke's daughter. They were scattered after my grandmother Bessie died and taken care of by different families. Uncle Glen Vandyke is from Billings Montana, French Vandyke, Melvin Vandyke. There are a bunch more, all born in Tazewell, Va. My mother is 79, the only living one that I am aware of unless there are some I'm not familiar with during my lifetime. If you get any information on the Vandyke family, I would like to hear from you. Also, I understand that Dick Vandyke, the actor is related to us all. And from the Montana area.

I have VanDykes in my line but can't get anywhere. My great grandmother was Edna VanDyke. Her father was either William or Edward (or both) VanDyke. I know they are from the Billings area because Edna had her son Wesley Edward Straight in Billings July 6, 1897. Edna married Wesley William Straight. I also have a picture of Edna's father on a horse during a hunt somewhere in Wyoming. The back of the picture says E.E. Vandyke. So that has thrown me off. If you have any info in your line about these people, I would love to know.

Dick Van Dyke and Jerry Van Dyke are my 5th cousins. Dick was born in Mo. but Jerry was born in Danville, Vermilion Co., Ill. Their family has lived in Danville for years.Their father's name was Lora(or Loren) and Lora"Cookie", mother was Jennie Ware, who married Dorsey Van Dyke. Jennie is a Strader descendant and that is how Dick and I are related.

I was just discovered the Van Dyke website and saw your posting from 2002. I am hopefull that you still check this website periodially. We are closely related.
