I am looking for David VanHook. He married Mary Susan Morrow, daughter of Ebenizer Morrow. of Caswell/Person Co. and moved to Macon Co. NC. I believe your Isaac is burried here in Macon Co. NC at Clarks Chapel Cemetary. David VanHook is burried in the back of the Morrow property on highway 28 N. My GGrandmother was Sara Jane Vanhook born 1844, married Nathaniel Henderson Parrish.

George & Elizabeth Vanhook, Yonkers NY, 1920 & 1930

Looking for info on George and Elizabeth Vanhook, who are listed in the 1920 and 1930 census in Yonkers, NY. George was born in New Jersey, Elizabeth was born in NY...possibly Brooklyn.

Specifically, I'm wondering if Elizabeth's maiden name was Clark. I'm hoping she is my elusive great-grandfather George Clark's sister.

In 1920 my grandfather Eugene Clark is enumerated with them, and it looks like his relationship to head of household is "Nephew."

(Eugene's mother was Emma Sebring. I don't know where she was in 1920!)

I assume that Mary Ann Mangum Vanhook went to live near her brother Wesley B. Mangum in Pitt County, NC. Wesley married a Charlotte ??. Wesley died and was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Pitt County.

Mary Ann was one of 6 children. I have information on most of her other siblings. I do not know anything other than that listed above.

If you have any information, even a little bit, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thomas VanHook was my G.G. Grandfather born in abt. 1786. Was listed as a soldier in the War of 1812 in Ohio.
Married in Pickaway Co., Ohio on 22 November, 1814 to Nancy Phebus. Four children were born in Ohio and the family moved to Fountain County, Indiana in the early/middle 1820s. Yheir chidren were Susannah, Samuel,Sarah,Benjamin, Elizabeth, John and Wilson.
My line came via John who married Elizabeth;Their son (William" Henry who married Alsey Summers;their son, my father (Gilbert) Clark VanHook who married my mother Amanda Moody.

Hi Clark,
Yes, there are a lot of similarities, aren't
there? My g.g. grandfather Thomas VanHook had
4 of his six children by the names of Samuel,
John, Elizabeth and Sarah. His wife's family
had none of those names but for the exception of
the name of Samuel, her father. I have always
thought that if I ever found his family, that
I would encounter the anmes that he gave to his
children. It was customary to do that in those
early days.
Do you have information on the parentage of your
Thomas?
It would be interesting for me to study your
g.g.g.grandfather's heritage.
I have always thought that there was the
possibility that he had previously been
married, but there was no way of checking it.

I actually have no date of birth for him.
According to The VanHook and Allied Families,
by Berniece Keister, he died in 1838 at age
52 in Fountain County, Indiana to where he had
taken his family in the early 1820s.I have
never found anything to support that. Such age
would have made him born abt. 1786., though there
is no proof that he wasn't younger.

On 22 November, 1814, he married a widow Nancy Phebus Redden in
Pickaway County, Ohio. I also found that he had served in the War
of 1812 in the Ohio militia.

I have no other information about him. Incidentally, my father's
middle name name was Clark. His full name was Gilbert Clark VanHook.
However his name came from a g. grandfather whose sur-name was Clark.
