My father is Harry Lee Vassar, born in 1940 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin to Martha Louise Williams and Harry (Alfred?) Vassar from NY. I know that Harry and Martha were not married and that Harry (elder) had another family somewhere. Apparently Martha and he had two more children, a boy, and a girl. My grandmother Martha could not keep all three children and so gave away the other two (the boy, Joel, to her sister) and kept my father. I was told that Harry’s (elder) middle name was Alfred, which would make sense because on your pedigree there is an Alfred Vassar further up the line. I guess their unofficial relationship was on a river boat somewhere---but am not sure. I don’t know who Harry (alfred) Vassar’s official wife was.

I know from my father that the mother of Harry was a Phoebe Young and father was Monroe Anson Vassar, son of Orilla Hanmer and Alfred Vassar
I believe Alfred's (and thus Charles') father was Lawrence.
