Kirk - My grandmother considered her hometown to be Tripoli - believe it's SW of Corinth. Her maiden name was Papalexi.

Based on immigration records, looks like my grandfather's home town was Diavolisti - north or Kalamata.

Don't know if there's any direct relationship between your family and mine - I'm not aware of any Kyriakos in the family. I've got family spreadout across the US (Colorado, Illinois, California, NY, GA, SC, OR) but haven't heard anyone mention Kyriakos before.

Hi Greg,
My dad's father's name was Kyriakos hence Kirk.
My family came from Corinth but originally from Skotini.
I don't know of any family that I may have in Chicago.

What was your grandfather's name? I believe my grandfather - Thomas - had 3 brothers - two came to the US (Bill & Gus) and one stayed in Greece (not sure of his name). We lived in the Chicago area for a while in the early 60's and have some family there now (cousins). I believe there's another branch of the Vassios family that also lives in the Chicago area. Seems to be we had relatives in Evergreen Park (I think my dad's first cousins), but I'm sure they've passed away by now.

My family is not from Corinth, but I believe from the Peleponese. Family name when my grandfather immigrated was Vasilopoulos, although I've heard the ancestral name is actually Kolovos.

Not certain where in Greece my grandfather came from - don't think it was Corinth. Original spelling was Vasilopoulos. I know that he had three brothers (William - came to US around the same time, Gus - believe he stayed behind in Greece - can't remember the other's name).

My grandfather and his brother came from Corinth around that time, my grandfather reurned to Greece after a year or so, his brother settled in Chicago I think? Is your family from Corinth?
