Bonnie, I have the complete line of the Veach, Veitch, Vetch, etc all the way back. My particular grandmother Lilly Bell Veach's history has been proven into the Royal lines of England and Europe including Scotland and Norway etc. I happened to find a cousin who's mother and aunt have been working on the Veitch Lines for over 50 years.

Yes, you are correct about the gap in age between Chloe and Salathial (however it's spelled) I do know Salathiel is a Biblical name.

You are also correct about Mary's age, I must have entered the wrong key in my program and had her off 10 years. When I rechecked the 1850 census, I found that error and have corrected it.

You are right, the age difference makes Salathial and Chloe most likely to be aunt and nephew. When I wrote what I did previously I was confusing Chloe and Sarah M. Wear. Sarah was living with Salathial and his wife in the 1860 census so was on that wave length.

You probably know this already but he was living with a Mary (I assume his mother in 1850) and then another Mary (wife), daughter and my Sarah in 1860. An older Mary was living next door.

The census does not list Sarah as a domestic but that would be my guess as Salathial and his wife had a 1 year old daughter. So there is a connection somehow between the Veaches and the Wears and it's probably through the Welborns - Chloe Veach m. Evans Welborn, their son John m. Sarah Weer who was living with Salathiel.

Now the Wears/Weers/Weirs...

Sarah's parents were Edward Long and Barbara Long ... Ned is a nickname for Edward so it looks like your Mary and my Sarah are sisters after all. After Edward's death (he did not mention children by name in his will - of course), Barbara married Hamilton Tice (who was about 15 years her junior), 13 Sept 1848, in Davidson Co, NC and had additional children. She must have come from hardy stock!

In the 1850 census in Davidson Co., NC,(Hamilton Tice and Barbara) had all the family listed. The 1840 census in Davidson Co., NC has Edward Weer with all of the kids from the 1850 census fitting in the correct age brackets with one missing, which I think is my Sarah. Her tombstone has her listed as b. 1838 but according to these early censuses, she was born around 1840-41 which would explain why there is one daughter missing in the 1840 census. Mary, Christina, Catherine and George would all be in the appropriate age brackets. Tombstones are often wrong so I think that 1841 is a more appropriate dob for Sarah... I have a picture of Sarah as an elderly woman... she is very severe looking.

The Longs...

The parentage Barbara Long (I think, if I remember correctly) I deciphered from various cemetery and church books of Davidson NC. I only noted one book in my sources, and it's been a while so I'd have to go back and really go over my records. But I have her parents listed as Jacob Long and Barbara Lopp and her parents as Peter Lopp and Mary. These last two lines I'm not as sure of but they are in my program. Again, will have to check files, etc. It's been a long time since I worked on this family.

The Veaches...

I don't know much. You know about what I do. I do not know who her parents are but somewhere in my HUGE file on this family I have a notation of Chloe H. Veach and another note of her possibly being the granddaughter of a Chloe Hilton who married a Veach. Just my bad memory - and you have already experienced that.

I'm very confident of the lineage to Edward Wear and Barbara's second marriage to Hamilton Tice. Beyond that we need to verify.

We seem to be the only ones interested in this line at the moment, we could take "off-line". Let me know.

For your review, I've attached a pdf file of the lineage from Peter Lopp through the Wears. I can expand farther from Sarah M. Wear if you are interested.

We seem to be the only ones interested in this line at the moment, we could take "off-line". Let me know.

I think your Salithiel might be a brother (no proof, only conjecture) to my Chloe Veach who married Evans Welborn. Their son John C. Welborn m. Sarah Martha Wear/Weir/Weer. Evans brother, Alpheus H., married Sarah's sister Christina. Sarah and Christina had a sister Mary b. 1843 -I don't know who she married. So maybe this is Solithiel's wife? Another link... your Solithiel had a son James Cicero... Evans and Chloe also had a son Pleasant Cicereo. What do you think?

I'm looking for information on my great aunt Mollie Jones (b. 1872) who married Henry Veach. Mollie was last married to Milton "Melt" Jones and they lived in Whitley Co., KY and are buried in the Stanfill Cemetery at Pleasant View, in Whitley County.
North Carolina, Salathiel VEACH

I am a descendant of Salathiel VEACH born 5 May 1832 in Davidson County, NC and died 1 Dec 1912 in Missouri. He was married to Mary E. WEIR. Their children were Corina (Charena/Augusta), Jane, William, Charles Wesley, and James Cicero VEACH.

I believe Salathiel's father and grandfather were both William VEACH and lived in North Carolina.

Salathiel's name is often mispelled. I have seen it Salathel, Solomon, Salthie...

I would appreciate any information going either farther back or forward. I am especially curious to know if this line appears in the books about the VEITCH family.

Thank you!

Re: North Carolina, Salathiel VEACH

Your information was very helpful to me, and I think you will be interested in what I found.

I just looked up Chloe Veach on Rootsweb at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&... She was born 3 Mar 1814 and died 8 Apr 1891. Since Salathiel Veach was born 5 May 1832, I think she must have been Salathiel’s aunt (not his sister, as you had suggested).

On Salathiels' death certificate, his father’s name is listed as James (not William, as I had originally thought) (http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/r... )

There was a James Veach in the Rowan and Davidson County, NC census from 1810 to 1840. He was born around 1790 and died between 1840 and 1850. He lived near a John Veach, who was about the same age so was probably his brother. In 1822, there was a John Veach in Rowan, NC whose sister Mary was married to James Whitfield Pope and whose first son was named John Veach. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

So, if Chloe Veach was Salathiel’s aunt, her siblings were probably James, John, and Mary.

Based on the 1790 and 1800 census, I would say the father of James, John, Mary, and Chloe was named John, Richard, or James. Based on Mary’s son’s name, I would say it was probably John. Interestingly, I found a Rootsweb site, that says that Chloe's father's name was Galathiel (probably yet another misspelling of Salathiel) http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&... But the only Salathiel I’ve ever found is the one born 1832.

After James died, his wife Mary Weir and son Salathiel lived next door to some of the Welborns – John and Mary, age 35 and 37 in 1850. (This is from the 1850 census). I guess John was Evan Welborn’s brother (Chloe's brother in law).
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

It's interesting that you have a Cicero in your line, too!

Do you know anything about the Wear/Weir/Weers? On Mary's death certificate, her parents are listed as Ned Wear and Barbary Long. That's all I know about them. http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/r...

The Mary Weir you mentioned (sister of Sarah and Christina) must have been a cousin of the Mary Weir who married Salathiel. Salathiel's Mary was born 21 August 1833 in North Carolina and died 17 February 1912 in Johnson County, MO. They were married on Jun 18, 1853 in Davidson, NC.

What do you think of the idea that Chloe was Salathiel’s aunt? Does this make sense, given what you know about her?
I looked in my Veach book and all I see offhand is that the two above were married and had 11 children. The only thing listed in the Veach book is information that the family sent in to the woman who compiled it. I'll look in another book and if I find anything, I'll let you know. Ankah Veach is sister to my grandfather, Joshua Veach. I could help you some on her line, but know nothing about the Smith side. If you are the one who listed the children, I thank you. I have put them in my familytree. Good Luck LaNell

She was apparently living in the Seattle, WA area in the early to mid 1940's from a letter received by someone in the family at the time.

Beyond the above information, the trail is extremely cold and I've had no success locating her through any of the other common family history routes.

Any leads or other information that anyone might have will be greatly appreciated.

My gggrandfather was John Veach b.1799 in DE. I have spent 6 months trying to find out about this line without success. It appears the Delaware Veaches "ducked down" when the British started coming. Any info will be greatly appreciated. haro01@charter.net
