I was wondering if there may be any connection to the Vieira/Veader as my surname is Vearer which seems that it may have been made more English, as i am from London and some of my older relatives said it may have been an english version of what could be spanish/portugese?

Re: New England Vieira/Veader Family

Hi Beverly,

My great-great grandmother was named Maria Delphine Veader. I was told she was still alive in the Azores in 1948 when my great-grandmother died.

I am not sure if or when Maria may have come to the US, but I was told her maiden name was Veader. She married a man named Antone Moitoza. I would imagine they lived on Faial, Azores because that is where my great-grandmother was from.

This is the first time I am researching this name - I was trying to find out what nationality Veader was, because I had never heard the name before. I understand from your email that it could actually be Viera - the Portuguese name - which would make more sense. This leads me to believe she did come to this country - as they may have "Americanized" the name upon her arrival. Any help you have would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Robin Hilario

New England Vieira/Veader Family

Lived in Everett, Weymouth, Boston in late 1800's. Son John was my mother's father. Would like to know more about this family. Original spelling of this name could be Vieira, Vera or many of it's variations. Willing to share what little info I have on this or other families I'm working on.
