Elijah Veazey (1775-1841) is in my husband's family tree. The other probably is, too, I just don't have that birth date.
Thanks for the insight,Bruce. It is sooo interesting. My Veazeys all seem to come from OH,IN,and PA. One census even said KY, but I haven't been able to connect yet. This is slow going, I spend hours on it but don't get too far with My William M. I did trace his wife Mary S. Veazey to Ohio after William died. She lived with Emma and family in Columbine according to the 1920 census. Died in 1923.
But I get nowhere trying to track their parents.
Thanks much, Judy

I haven't uncovered a link to that John Veazey or William Veazey's line in my Veazie research, which is primarily related to the descendants of William Veazie of Massachusetts c 1650. In the mid 1800s, most (but certainly not all) of William Veazie descendants were still in Maine and Mass., and beginning to "invade" Upstate and Lower Tier New York. However, there are a few Veazies that started out early in New Hampshire (possibly but not certainly related to the "Northern" Veazies) that John Veazey may be related to.

He may also be related to the Veazey (Veasey, etc) line that apparently comes through an early Maryland Veazey (George? early-mid 1600s, possibly related to William Veazie of Mass but having his own rather distinct line of descendants). Others here on the board know a lot more about the "Southern" Veazeys than I do.

Just from intuition and earlier emigration patterns, I would *guess* (and that's all it is) that John Veazey's ancestors came from east and south (New Jersey, Maryland, etc.) rather than north.

FYI - Darlington, Beaver Co., PA 1870 - without a doubt (from inspection) it's "Car shop," Judy. In addition, his next door neighbor works in a "Car factory."

Note that automobiles weren't commonly called "cars" until somewhat later so it's very likely the "car" factory was for railcars.
Yes, this is very possible since my William was born in 1830. He was a farmer in 1860 census with his wife and children, but in 1870 he works in a shop(I can't make out what kind,it looks like car), and in 1880 he's a coal miner.
Thanks so much for responding. Are you liked to William?
Judy

A quick check shows John Veazey in New Sewickley, Beaver Co., PA in 1850. In household are Jane (wife?) and probable ch: Isabella, William (age 19) and Sarah, all born PA. John and William are farmers. Is that a possibility?

I am looking for help with my Veazey line. These were miners living in Beaver County,PA. I go as far as William M. Veazey b.1830,, who married in 1853 to Mary S. Piersol b.1834.
Hi Karen

I just picked up your post of some 3 years plus ago.

I have a great grandfather named George Henry Veazey who was born in Oakham Rutland in October 1872 (we believe) to Charles and his wife Mary Ann. We know he joined the army in 1892 and served in South Africa. He was married twice and had 6 children - 5 by his first wife and one by his second. His eldest daughter Annie Elizabeth (born 1899) was my maternal grandmother.

Please let me know your interest and whether you think this may be the George Veazey you are looking for.

Kind regards

Clive Waite

VEAZEY Family of Alabama

I am trying to find more info. on the VEAZEY Family of LaFayette, Alabama. I know that Annie Veazey married George Henry Langley in 1898. I think they married in LaFayette, but I can't be sure. They had a Daughter named Sally Kay, and she had six Brothers. I do not know ANY of the Brother's names. I do know that they all fought in the Civil War at the same time as Confederate Soldiers, and they all came home to their Family after the war was over. I also know that the Veazey Family had land in that area for over 108 years. George bought land from Annie's Family over the years, and used it for many different things. Sally Kay married Joshua Page Adams. We do not know much about that either. If you have any more info. on the Veazey Family I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Possible Fears-Veazey Connection

My ancestor, James Fears, born abt 1800 in Warren CO, GA was married to Elizabeth, last name unknown. He has ties to Hancock CO (next to Warren CO) too. Found recently is a court record which might indicate that Elizabeth was a Veazey. We think Zebulon may have been her brother. In 1817, James and Elizabeth would have been abt 17 and 15 respectively. I wonder why a court in GA would award custody of Zebulon to them at their young ages unless they were already married? Does anyone have any more info on the children of Jesse Veazey? Here is the source for our curiosity:

***Hancock County, Georgia Inferior Court Minutes, 1809-1833
Compiled by J. Kenneth Brantley. Published by The Brantley Association of America, 2000 Page 60

6th January 1817: Ordered that Zebulon Veazy orphan of Jesse Veazey dec'd be bound to JAMES FEARS? (sic) For the term of four years from 1st ins't.

I think your Sarah Veazey is a descendant of the original Veazey settlers in Hopewell Township, Beaver County, PA: Rev War veteran Elisha Veazey (ca. 1750-ca. 1815) and Sarah Rutter although I can't pinpoint which of their sons you descend from.

I have very good records on them and their descendants. Can you tell me a little more about your Sarah? I think your line comes through their son, James Veazey who migrated to Gallia County, Ohio. He was married to Nancy McCullough. James and Nancy's children were: Elisha, Mary, Sarah, James, Nancy, John and William. This Sarah was born in 1829 so it may be a match with yours. I lost track of her after the 1850 census.

Please contact me.
I read the "Book Reviews" from "Western Pa. Genealogical Society Quarterly". (And try to direct reseachers to available information/books.)
From the Spring 1990 issue Vol. 16 #4,
pg. 44 "The Veazey Family of Beaver County, Pa. 1750-1900 Vol. III" by Dennis B. I believe that is the 3rd. family group on your list. Martha could well be a
daughter who was married by 1861.

Looking for information pertaining to a Phebe Veazey whom married William S Barnes? I would like to know who their children were.

They resided in the Troup County area (?) This is an assumption, based on the Barnes information that I currently have. Would like to confirm that William S and Phebe were parents to Walter TC Barnes.

Did Phebe later marry a Noah Peppin?

Please email me directly. roxannajolly@hotmail.com
