Orville, Owen Otis and Orie's father was Eddward Gadway. He and Tophile were brothers. Also, their wives were Emma ( married to Tophile) and Florence ( married to Edward) and they were sisters which would make you and Sandy double cousins (sort of) I am Joe, son of Harold which was your father's brother. There is an Aaron Gadway that runs a realty office in New York. He can be reached through the web through Gadway Realty. I told Sandy that you were asking about her (sort of) and she was going to try looking you up on the internet. I saw Lois several years ago when she and Joe were living in Massachusetts.

I am trying to find information on Jean Venne who was born in France in 1621 and died in Quebec in 1687. He was married to Marie Manseau.

The other tress have Jean's parents as Antoine Bineau and Rose Turpin. But I'm trying to figure out where the name got changed from Bineau to Venne or if perhaps Jean was just taken in by the Bineau family.

Any information would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Hi Ryan: great to hear from you cousin... :) Due to the splitting up of this family, we don't know alot about what happened to the children, so I would love to hear whatever descendant info and any other stories regarding Horace.

Since my 2002 posting, I have uncovered quite a bit of other info, especially the ancestors of Josephine, so if you send me an email to blair.barbeau@shaw.ca, I would love to share info with you, and perhaps put you in contact with other cousins.

Thanks for responding to my post.

Blair.

I believe I have some info you are searching for if your Grandfather was Edward Francis Born Oct 13 1914 in Tomahawk, WI. I received info from Ruth Venne sister to Claude Stephen Venne born 10-11 1889. Claude's Father was Henri Alfred Charles Venne who was the Brother to my Great Grandfather Joseph Agapite Venne. You may contact me direct at imgrdng@sbcglobal.net if I can be of assistance.

After reading the several postings on this subject, I thought I should add my information and perhaps someone has a "connection". My grandmother's sister, Lottie Landry (1891-1980), was married to Delphis Venne (1890-c. 1918). She had three children by Delphis before he died circa 1918; they were Earl, Clayton and Philomen. She later married Al/Albert Bartels and "Mr." Farnsworth. I believe that Delphis was the son of Edmund and Ann Venne. It appears that Edmond was born in Canada circa 1864. Please contact me at JNCL2@cablespeed.com if you have info to share on this family. Thank you!
Hi, Well at times this research is confusing to say the least, but this is what I have regarding the name Rose-De-Lima Venne. I have a Rose who was born to Raymond Venne b. 1823 and Henrelie Woulfe. She married an Alclide Jetta 16 January 1894 St. Alexis, Montclam, Quebec. This is probably another Rose but her birth fits in with the family time frame. My line goes to Edmund Venne b. 03 May 1865 son of Raymond with wife Eleanor Anna (Hattie) Sauve b. 14 Oct. 1865 Michigan USA.

Wayne

I'm a decendent of Joseph Venne (b. 1841) the son of Louis Venne(b.1862) of Canada who moved to Fond du Lac in about 1880 and Married Mary Letourneau. Their son Joseph Venne (b.1888) married Elzora Sylvester in 1881 and later moved to Tomahawk, WI and worked in a lumber mill. My mother Ruth was born in 1917 in Munising, Michigan. A DNA test my brother took indicated a Native American content of 21%, which made my mother 42% native American. Both Venne and Sylvester are common enough Native American names with the name Sylvester even going as far west as the Navajos. The French assimilated quite often with the Natives both for trading advantage and the Natives needing European blood to resist the Euro-Asian diseases. Even down to my Grandfather, their native language was French. My Grandfather was a sailor who sailed around the world on Teddy Roosevelt's White Fleet. There are lots of Vennes in Wisconsin who are cousins.

A son of their's also named Joseph married Adeline LaCase, they had 9 boys and 2 girls.
Hi Again,
Well, I looked through my old notes to find I have what you already have. Two years ago I ventured to coleman and looked through soome church records and came up with Didace's family. From there I went to Marinette and found more information, births & marriages.
I found the below today if it's of interest:

gencircles

Julienne Brault
Birth:	About. 1840
Death:
Sex:	F
Father:	Joseph Urgel Brault\Bro b. 29 Nov 1823 in St. Jacques de l'Achigan, Montcalm, Quebec Province, Canada
Mother:	Marie Euphemie Bourgeois b. 1823

Marie Euphemie Bourgeois 1 2 2 3 4

Birth:	1823 1 2 2 3

Death:	23 May 1890 1 2 2 3

Sex:	F
Father:	Jean Baptiste Bourgeois

Mother:	Venerande Poir

Also Known As: Uphemea
Burial: St. John the Baptist Church, Coleman, Marinette Co., WI

Justine Brault
Birth:	1852
Death:
Sex:	F
Father:	Joseph Urgel Brault\Bro b. 29 Nov 1823 in St. Jacques de l'Achigan, Montcalm, Quebec Province, Canada
Mother:	Marie Euphemie Bourgeois b. 1823

Also at St. Patrick Church in Stiles, WI there was an entry of a baptism:
Juliannes Venne b. 12 Jan 1886 Bapt. 12 Jan 1886
f. Didacuis Venne
m.
Hi Lynne,
At this point I am not sure if I'm related at all but that is a possibility, one I will research. Hopefully, someone will know the answer to that question. My GGrandfather, Edmund Venne moved to Coleman from Canada as he or his father was looking for work. I believe that Didace lived in Coleman prior to Edmund's arrival. Perhaps he wrote to Edmund or Edmund's father and told him that the work was plentiful and invited him down to Coleman??? So with that thought they may be cousins.
Yes, I would be interested in the informatioin on Didace's family. I took some pictures of the grave stones of I believe Simon and Abraham Venne. I would send them but I don't belive I can attach files to this document. Many of the stones are gone and perhaps some fell apart with time. I have some information that some of Didace's children at one time or another were living with other friends & family members. I will have to dig that infirmation up and send it to you. I don't recall but that information may have been in a Wisconsin census.

Wayne

Wayne,
Didace's parents were Joseph Venne and Adeline La Case, they had 9 boys Joseph, Didace, Ulric, Camille, Gilbertg, Treffle, Arthur, Delfis, Azarie, and two girls (names not listed). Didace and Justine had 16 children: Anna, twins Napoleon and Edmund, Helena, Leon, Joseph, Hosana, Alvina, Delor, Amanda, Julius, Adeline, twins Wilbert and Wilfred, Lea, Oscar, Gilbert.
If you want the birthdates I have them... Is it possible your ggrandfather is my grandfather's brother? I guess it depends on your age.. I am 60.
Do you have any family stories of where the Venne family came from? In our line it started with a 9 year old orphan that the Braults took in...
Talk later, thanks, Lynne

Hi Lynne,

The Edmund Venne that I'm researching is from another line; however, I feel that the Edmund's that were living in Coleman are cousins but have not been able to prove this.
Are you from the Wisconsin area?
I grew up in the Manitowoc-Two Rivers area of WI as this is where my folks finally settled. Like many they migrated towards work. My GG Grandfather, Edmund, was a lumberjack, but when the logging industry last it's luster he set out for Two Rivers and began work in the factories there.
I do have additional information on Didace, a name that has several spelling, which I acquired in Marinette at the county courthouse and as well as from some from other sources. I now have a new computer and I placed all my documents on a disc. I need to go back and find these documents so I can speak with more clarity.
Would you mind sending the information you have on Didace as I may not have everything you have. I will do the same for you as I think it's wonderful to shave findings and communicate with those who have a shared interest. My email is address is wlee210@yahoo.com.

Wayne

I think there is more than one Venne family.. I just realized the Didace/Justine line probably isn't the typical line everyone thinks we are from.. We are from the Joseph Venne, Sr./Sulier who had a child Joseph Venne, Jr. who married Adeline LaCuse.. who had a child named Didace. Does anyone have information on this line?
From the board admin

Hi.

I'm new as administrator of this board. I don't know where you old admin went, but it's just you and me now, and I thought I'd say hello and tell you a few things.

You may already know that posts to this board are gatewayed to the Venne mailing list. If you'd like to join that list, just send a new message to Venne-request@rootsweb.com and put just the word subscribe in the subject line. That will do it for you.

Also, there are a few "rules" that I'm supposed to tell you about. Sorry..... :o)

The first one is really important. When you type up your message, either new or reply, please put the surnames that are IN your message in the surname box. Not all those you are researching, just those you're talking about in your current post. And, please separate them with a comma... not a / , not a - , or a * , or anything else. This is for the convenience of those who are searching the archives, which are referenced by surname.

The classification box is pretty easy. Query covers most everything. But, if you have something specific like a will, or an obituary, please be sure to mark the right classification.

The rest are the common ones. Don't flame anyone (and, please don't respond on the list if someone flames you, just let it drop), don't send spam, make sure your messages are on topic.... the usual board stuff. So far, I haven't found many problems on this score, but I did want to mention it.

If you're new to research and/or message boards and mailing lists, and you don't understand anything I've said. Please contact me.

As for anything else, if you need to reach me for any reason, my address is carlette@mail.com, and if you lose that one, it's also there if you click on links and announcements.

Thanks,
Carlette
Hi Joseph,

Thanks for contacting me! I would love to learn more about your Venne line. This is my uncle's family and he doesn't know a whole lot. The beautiful St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac that the Vennes helped build is currently being threatened to be demolished.

I'd be happy to share my information with you! Please feel free to email me directly at jbcopet@sbcglobal.net.

I'm searching for the descendants of Pierre Charles Venne married to Elizabeth Piche, (daughter of Alfred Piche-Josephine Arbour), my great grand-aunt, Jun 21 1896 in Joliette,Qc. Pierre's parents were Pierre Venne and Herminie Drolet. Pierre's ancestry would also be appreciated. I have Elizabeth's ancestors and would love to share. Thanks,CarolG
