Thank you for your response, Julia. Actually, my VENIS line was German in origin, their name originally being FINIS. Johann Heinrich FINIS, the father of my Christiana, came to America as a Hessian mercenary soldier fighting on the side of the British during the Revolutionary War. He was captured by the Continental Army, and after the War decided to remain in America. His daughter Christiana married Jacob SUMMERS in Virginia, and in 1818 they migrated to Indiana. She is buried there in St. John's Cemetery, Greenville, Floyd Co. Most of the rest of her family moved to Ohio, where many can be found today.
