Venus Surname Durham Area of England

David Venus Grieveson  (View posts) Posted: 21 Feb 2001 11:43AM GMT
Just to add a few threads to the Venus name. My Grandfather Charles Venus 1892-1940 (Jarrow) married Catherine Robson in 1915. He had a brother David born 1904 and probably a sister Maria.
His father John Venus 1864-?(Jarrow) married Eliza Jane Dorman in 1888.
Johns father also John Venus married Elizabeth (Paulsby or Saulsby or maybe Soulsby)
That's it so far If anyone can add any more information I would be grateful

Further to message from David Venus Grieveson. My grandfather was born in 1880 - Frederick Charles Venus. His fatherb was one of 21 children. If I can find the family bible I can possible find out more. As there were so many children in the Venus family, probably born around the early 1800s it is quite likely that there are many links out there. Any info gratefully received.

My great-great grandfather - Thomas Venus left Stockton-on-Tees in 1853 to come to South Australia where the family has lived ever since. He married Jane McAlpine in Glasgow before they left His fathers name was John , as is mine.
Best wishes from South Australia
