Hi, I can't really read Italian. But, from what I read, some names looked familiar. My grandmother was Anna Corrente Cannella, and her brothers went to Argentina, I believe. And possibly sisters. They were Phillip, Antonio, Maria Corrente Rainero, and Cecilia. Maria Rainero had three children, Sam, Phillip, and Santa. If any of this makes sense to you, contact me.

INFORMATION ON THE VERNA FAMILY

I am looking for information on the verna family. My grandmother was Rose Verna, who was born in Italy, but came to South Philly via Ellis Island with her mother and Father (Archangelo and Domenica Caniglia). Rose Verna married a Nardontonia who was killed in South Philly, in a case of mistaken identity(??). She later remarried to Frank Peluso. My grandmother also has a sister who was born in South Philadelphia after they moved here. Her name was Tootsalina Verna, who nuns in S. Philly renamed Rosalie. Tootsie Verna married Albert Rongione. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated, or if you think you are related, please email me!

I'm sorry, but I haven't been on this site for a while, but while talking with my mother and my aunt about updating another site, we found your reply. My apologies!
I'm told that Luigi Verna was a cousin of my grandfather. Louis, Frank and Joe Verna were all brothers and lived in the Boston, MA area. They have relatives in Catignano, Italy. I'm also told that they had a cousin, Julio Verna. I noticed a message regarding a Julius Verna, but I don't know if there is a connection.

I'm just beginning to research my mother's family. My grandfather was Vincenzo Sebastian Verna (shortened to James after coming through Ellis Island). He was born in Catignano, which I am told is the Abruzi region in northern Italy. He came to this country around 1900 and settled in Portsmouth New Hampshire. As far as I know, he came with either a cousin or a brother. Need further investigation on that. I was wondering if they might be related. I will ask my aunt if she knows if any other relatives went to PA.
