Hi Richard, Thank you for responding. I appreciate your sharing your family's information.
Your aunt Nora comes from my Woodside family and her full name was Margaret Lenore Woodside. She was born Feb 17, 1873 Dyersburg, TN. Her father was Robert A Woodside and her mother was Louisa A. Woodside. Robert was born in NC.
She went by Nora, because that was a favorite name in the Woodside family. She is shown on the 1830 Census as Margaret L. wife of Enloe V. Verner and her obit in the Muskogee Daily Phoenix gives her full name as Margaret L Vernor who died May 15, 1949. She was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Muskogee.
I am interested in learning more about her two daughters.
Do you have any information on them?
Thank you again for your help.
Donna

Bill,
You are absolutely right! Thank you so much for finding this fabulous obituary! It was loaded with helpful information! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this obit and being so generous with your time! What newspaper did you find it in? Was it dated?

Your info matches up perfectly with what I had researched. Actually the name "Clarence" was a misprint. A nephew was named Clarence Enloe after his uncle and I got the two names confused when I wrote up this query. I knew Judge Enloe's middle initial was "V" -- just didn't know what it meant.
Thanks again for your help.

This similarities in names is very closely connected to those in my family. And would you be familiar with the name William Franklin Vernor? This could possibly be Zenas' Grandfather.

Zenas married Lula Nadine Hill but also married another lady whose name I don't know. Zenas' mother's name is Della Ozella Nicholson. Walter is from Mississippi but most of my family does reside in Ark. and has for a long time. Hope this helps and hope to here from you.

Cathie,
This is a small matter but Noah wasn't born in Iredale County. His father Henry moved to Rutherford County about 1798, and then to Tennessee, Maury, Bedford counties, about 1811. He moved to Jackson County, Alabama in 1837/1838. His brother states, supported by the 1850 census of Tippah County, Mississippi, that he was born September 22, 1809.

As far as I know James Elisius Vernor didn't move to Texas until after the 1870 census. He was still in Jackson County, for that census. I am interested in knowing more about his descendents. I don't have a Zenas for him, but do have seven children.

Vernors of Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania

I am descended from the Vernors who settled in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, Pa. before 1730, apparently from Ulster, Ireland.

John Vernor was a prosperous farmer and innkeeper who was a founder of the Old Leacock Presbyterian Church, built circa 1750 and still in use. He died in 1754, leaving several children, some of whom moved with their mother Martha Johnston Vernor to Albany, N. Y. in the 1760s. She apparently owned another inn there, where several meetings of the patriot Committee of Correspondence were held. Her sons John and James were also active in the Patriot cause.

The only descendant I know of, other than my own family, was a Frank A. Vernor of Detroit, who published a somewhat garbled account of the Lancaster Vernors in 1894.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone with information on this brach of the Vernor Family.

Hi! My ggrandmother was Bertie Vernor, believed to be born in Nashville, IL. I think her parents were Thomas Vernor and Sylveen Fraley. On death certificate, Richard Fraley and ? Fraley were reported for parents. I have placed both Richard and Thomas in Wash. Co. IL in the 1850 census in different households....Thomas was son of John from TN, and Richard was son of Zenas from NC. Would like any confirmation of this, info on the parents, sibs, their ancestors...and if there are any Vernors left in Wash. Co. Thanks! Please respond to brvantilms@aol.com.

Angela, the names you mentioned are familiar to me. I believe Stanley and Zenas Vernor were brothers of my great-grandmother, Effie Vernor (or possibly half-brothers of hers). Effie died in 1918 and I think she was from Arkansas. I know she had a brother named Zenas who was born in 1906. The Zenas Vernor that was your Stanley's brother was born in 1906 and was from ARK. Stanley was born in Missouri several years later. They both ended up in California in the 1960's. Do you have any information on their parents? Please let me hear from you.

Nicole

I am searching for any info regarding Zenas E Vernor b. 1906 in AR d. 1988 in Stanislaus County, CA (possibly lived or had relatives in Monterey County, CA). I believe Zenas may be the younger brother of my great-grandmother, Effie Vernor (Morgan) b. 1890-1900 d. 1918/19. I am trying to establish a relationship between Zenas and Effie and find any info on their parents and other family. There seem to be other Zenas Vernors out there and I'm sure they must somehow be related. If you have any info that might help me out I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks!
