Identities of the two George Vests

Banks Vest  (View posts) Posted: 26 Feb 2000 3:35PM GMT
After perusing message boards, I found no discussion of the Ids of the two George Vests both born in the mid-1700s. My George, who migrated to Hancock Co., GA in about 1790, was born no later than 1760 in VA. He was listed as owning land in Capt. Barron's district, Chesterfield Co., VA in the 1780s. In the 1790s, he and Barron are known to be neighbors in Hancock Co., GA. There is a record of a George having served in a NC line unit during the Revolutionary War. Obviously, this is not the same George that migrated westward referenced in many of the posted messages and records. Does anyone have any definitive clues as to how to clearly identify which is my George and which is the northern George?
