Well Hello Kimberly,
It appears that we may be sisters (at least half). I don't know what to tell you about Jimmy. .
My Mom tells me there may be a few more of us. I even remembering meeting someone when I was 2, and was told that he was my brother.
I believe we are talking about the same man. I even once met his wife, Louise, when she was working at a pharmacy in Fairfax City. We weren't introduced, but my mother knew who she was. I can probably give you a clearer picture of some of his life, at least what I know. He is living, but was injured at work and has had problems since the injury. I can tell you companies he has worked for, maybe some dates and places he has lived. In addition to the ome in Linden, he had a trailer in Fairfax City I believe they were called Waples Mill.

I do have a picture of him. At least my mother does. Besides the address I can tell you the house is on Apple Mountain, and one of the places he previously worked(and injured) was Dominion Electrical Supply in Chantilly.

Eli Vest is my GG Grandfather my line from him is John Secar Vest Sr., John Secar Vest Jr., Rodney Graham Vest, Lawrence Dwight Vest.
If you have any proof of Andrew Vest and Eli Vest being siblings I would be most appreciative to hear from you. Eli Vest was born in Seneca Co., NY in 1808 to the best of my knowledge. I have NO knowledge of either siblings or parents on Eli.

Looking for any info on Samuel Vest from Roanoke Virginia area. He was the legitimate father of a son who was born Dec 6, 1904 (my grandfather). As far as i know Sam Vest never had a chance to meet his son. The mothers maiden name was Elainne E Mills.

Martha Jane Vest and David W Dudley were my husbands grandparents with their son Norman N.Dudley being his dad. I have posted pictures of them on this site . Some of their kid were listed on 1920 census but the older girls Effie, Geneva and Net were not living at home at the time. So there was Elbert, Cora, Clanton, Ray, Norman.I am trying to track down both their parents. David W Dudley listed on the 1920 census as his father being born alabama and his mother missouri. His father was supposed to have married a Cherokee woman and when she died he married her sister. thanks to these posts I have some information on the Vest side.

James David Vest resided Morgan County, KY

I am looking for any information on a James David VEST b 1/18/1928 and died 9/9/2000 in Meally, Johnson County, KY. He was married and divorced from Hilda Marie SPENCE b 10/24/1935 d 12/26/1987. They were possibly married in Indiana. They divorced around 1960. They had 2 sons John Timothy and James David both born in Cincinnati, OH in the late 1950's. James David VEST also has a daughter from a possible 2nd marriage but nothing is known about her except that she may be living in Florida. Who are James David's parents? We know he resided in West Liberty, KY but are not sure where he was born. James David VEST was also a Korean War Veteran. Any one out there know James David VEST or his family? Anderson VEST of WV/VA

I am looking for any info on a Anderson VEST b abt 1815 in VA. I found him in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census. He was married to a Rhoda COCHRAN and I found that they had at least 8 children. I also found a woman, "Elizabeth VEST" age 86 living with them in the 1870 census. I believe this to be his mother. I would like any info on Anderson, his parents etc. I hope someone can help. I'm looking for information about Martha Vest, daughter of Jackson Vest (1833/1917) and wife Nancy Lilly (1835/1909) of West Virginia.

The 1870 census shows Jackson and Nancy with five children, Columbus, Elizabeth, Albert, Angeline and Martha. (Source Citation: Year: 1870; Census Place: Jumping Branch, Mercer, West Virginia; Roll M593_1694; Page: 534; Image: 140.) Jackson and Nancy’s great granddaughter could recall five Vest children: Columbus Washington Vest, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Vest who married a Plumley, Albert Parris Vest, Cindy Vest and Martha Vest, who married Ed Kelly.

Any help would be appreciated on Martha or her sisters Elizabeth and Cindy. I have no information on them. Specifically, I’m trying to find out if the Martha (Adline or Rosie) Kelly in the following is Jackson and Nancy’s Martha:

1. 1900 census information for Martha Kelly (June 1858) and Edward Kelly (Feb 1859), married 1874. Their children were Rhoda, James, Lonnie, Edward, Laura, Bertha and Edna. (Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Shady Spring, Raleigh, West Virginia; Roll T623_1771 Page: 22A; Enumeration District: 118.)

2. West Virginia marriage record for Edward Kelly, 23, of North Carolina and Adline Vest, 15, Mercer County, W.Va., married 24 Dec 1874, Summers County, W.Va. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_mcdetail.aspx?Id=11569084
The marriage record doesn’t have the couple’s parents’ names.

3. Martha Vest Kelly mentioned in an obit for Zetta Kelly Bennett of Fayetteville, W.Va., Beckley Post-Herald, 04 Nov 1958, Page 10. Mrs. Bennett’s parents are Edward and Martha Vest Kelly. Her siblings are Mrs. Lilly Payne, Allie Settle, Rhoda Berry, Joe Kelly and James Kelly.

An obituary for Lonnie Kelly, Charleston Gazette, W.Va., 01 Aug 1941, Page 16, (Coal Run Miner Dies in Slate Fall) lists the same siblings. It doesn’t have his parents’ names but burial is in the Best Cemetery at Jumping Branch, Summers County. That’s probably Vest Cemetery. An obit for Lilly Payne of Prosperity, W.Va., Beckley Post-Herald, 28 Feb 1964, Page 10, has her parents as Ed and Rosie Kelly.

Another piece of the puzzle, an obituary in the Charleston Gazette, W.Va., 10 Nov 1947, Page 9: Edward Ashworth Kelly, 109, Dies at Thurmond. Several of the siblings above are listed and Mr. Kelly was buried in the Vest Cemetery at Jumping Branch.

I have a little information. Anderson Vest was a son of Charles Vest, originally from Campbell County, Va., and his wife Elizabeth Via (also spelled Vier). I recently found a copy of Charles Vest's 1851 will from 1950 Beckley Post-Herald Centennial Edition that has his sons' names.

They both lived with a Lewis F Perry family in Clarke County, Iowa.

My George W. Vest married Margaret Jane Fivecoat.

I am searching for any Vest families in Mississippi or Alabama in the 1800s. My ancestor George Washington Autry and wife Lucretia lived in Tippah Co. Mississippi in the 1840s. Some researchers give her maiden name as Vest, with a 1833 marriage in Tippah Co., but I have not been able to verify that. Their son William Thomas Autry married as his second wife a Sarah Vest or Vess in Colbert Co., Alabama in 1880, and now I am wondering if they were cousins.

My Vest family came from Ala. to MS. My Ggrandfather was Charlie (Charles)Vest,M: Ella Arnett> They were we believe 1st cousins. They had one child,Coleman Douglas Vest B: May 13,1879.I have a paper from the Limestone County Historical Society on this info for 1880. Right below this is listed a James Vest and family on the 1870 Census. I don't know if there is any relation to this James.
When my grandfather Coleman was a small child he was sent to Tishimingo Co.MS. to be raised by his uncle Thomas and Kate Arnett,due to the death of his parents in a flu epidemic. This Vest line has links from Ala.MS.Ark.Okla.
I'm told that Charles and his father worked on The Springer Plantation (farmers), and one of the Vest men married a Margaret Springer of that family.
My grandfather Coleman m: Mary Jane(Janie)Lokey.Her brother in law had a ranch in Okla.called the John Shipley Ranch. This Lokey line is all over Ala.,Ark,Ms,Okla.also.I don't know if any of this helps you, but would appreciate any help you could give me if you ever run across anything on my Vest line. I'm on a tight handicapped budget so can't afford to join any of the web sites for help.

According to the Boone County Court of record a George Vest, born May 1860 from Pittsylvania, Va (courts show he attested to being 73 come May 1833). This George dies Feb 22,1845 in Boone County KY. His first wife was Sarah Sally Neal from Pittsylvania, Va and his second wife was Nancy Jane O'Neal. His will was probated in Boone County. He was probably the son of George Vest, b1721, and bother to John Daniel b1705. The George Washington Vest born 1757 in Chesterfield was the son of John Daniel and he moved to Hancock County, Va with his wife Mary Barron or Doss, died before March 21, 1799 at the time she and a Samuel Barron (administrators of his estate) had to post a $15000 bond. This research was done by Floyd Vest.

All I know about him is; he was born in West VA around 1938- 1940, approx 70-71 years old now, Im guessing.

He was in Virginia, the northern part and fathered two children with a lady name Sarah, Sally was her nickname.
