Vester's Grossbottwar, Germany Ancestry

Here is a paper that my dad and I found. I copied it word for word. Feel free to use this and let me know if you find any connections.

Jacob Fredrick Vester was born Nov. 4, 1816 in Grossbottwar, Germany. Near the year of 1839 he was married to Caroline Christine Fink, born March 2, 1814 in Grossbottwar, Germany. To this union were born six children: Frederick, Fredericka, Christine, Carl, Jacob, and Caroline, all born in Grossbottwar, Germany. All lived there until they came to this country.

In the summer of 1865 Frederick, the eldest son, corssed teh ocean in a sailboat and was on the water 65 days. He worked on a farm near Green HIll, Indiana. He enjoyed living in this country and this encouraged his parents and family to come to this country. They came in March 1868, in one of the first steam ships which crossed teh ocean in 11 days. They came directly to Green Hill, Indiana, and bought a farm about one mile southeast of Green HIll. Grandfather and Grandmother Vester spent the rest of their lives on this farm. Grandfather died December 6, 1889 at the age of 73 years and Grandmother died April 21, 1890 at the age of 76 years.

Johann Federick Vester was born July 22, 1841 and came to this country at the age of 24. He was married to Elizabeth Schmit and to this union were born John, Jacob, Michael, and George. Frederick Vester died Jan. 22, 1907, at the age of 66.

Fredericka Vester was born July 7, 1845 and was married to John Michael Bender in Jan. 15, 1871, and to this union were born Jacob, Caroline, Frederick and Charles. Two other sons died in early youth. Fredericka Bender died Dec. 8, 1927 at the age of 82. John Michael Bender died Dec. 3, 1919 at the age of 84.

Christine Vester was born Oct. 31, 1946 and was married to Martin B. Miller on Jan. 28, 1871 and to this union were born Rose, Elizabeth (deceased) and Cleveland. They lived in Taylorville, Illinois.

Carl Vester was born September 19, 1848 and was married to Minnie Frichel (born 1859) on March, 1875. To this union were born Fred, Mary (deceased), Elizabeth, Carl, Amelia, and William. Carl Vester died March 21, 1934. Minnie Frichel Vester died in 1946.

Jacob Vester was born Feb. 11, 1852 and was married to Mary Fischer on March 3, 1878. To this union were born Herman, Charles, Minnie, William, and Fredericka. Jacob Vester died in 1935. Mary Fisher died Aug. 31, 1944.

Caroline M. Vester was born June 21, 1855 and was married to Herman F. Beutler on March 5, 1878. To this union were born Charles, Oscar, Herman (deceased), Helena, Emma, Dorothea, and Edward. Herman F. Beutler died in 1920. Caroline M. Beutler died Jan. 18, 1939 at the age of 83.

Most of the first and second generation Vesters are buried in the Downs or Asbury Cemetery located 3 miles North East of Green Hill, Indiana.

Do not know if you check this board any more, I just started with my brothers help on our history, I know we are related. I grew up in the country outside of Spring Hope. Your parents name rings a bell, I will ask my brother what he knows. My father was Curtis E. Vester, son of Ralph Hawkins Vester, who ran a country store. He was son of Charlie Vester.

My grandmother was Mincie Deans Vester, daugher of Senoria Deans.

My brothers are Randy and Danny Vester both still living in Spring Hope. I live in Pompano Beach, FL. My husband and I purchased a second home in Lenoir NC this past year, where we will be for Christmas. My brother, Randy and his son will be joining us and we plan to spend some time doing research over the holidays. Good luck and stay in touch.
Brenda Vester Smith

My mother-in-law Virginia was a Prange and I have a Prange history. It shows Alma Alena Naber b. Oct. 10, 1891, d Jan. 6, 1974, parents Henry Charles Nabor and Anna Wilhelmina Prange. She appears to have married first George Langstucus and later Arron T. Ferris. She was born in St. Louis, lived at 4501 Lindell Blvd, and is buried at St. Peters Cemetery in St. Louis. A 1940 photo entitled "Christmas dinner at the Nabers'" in the book shows John Prange, Adelia Prange, Anna Prange, Alma Naber Ferris, Henry Naber, Anna Prange Naber, Alma Neltzen Naber. Hattie Struk (mistress and housekeeper for John Prange), Clara Prange Techenbrock, August Techenbrock. The book is Johann Henrich Prange's Descendants 1738-1998 by Otto Charles Prange, Silver Spring, Maryland.

Ron,
I'm wondering if you received my response to your request regarding Donald Vester (CA) and Edwin Vester (NJ). I have several communications that were written by Edwin regarding some archetiture that was built by his father John William Vester in Washington, PA. Also, my father was Donald W Vester who would have been a great nephew of Edwin. One of his uncles was David Charles Vester who was the father of David Milton Vester who was the father of Donald William Vester of CA, my father. Let me know if you have any additional information. Thanks,
John

As far as I know my grandfather was born in Stuttgart, Germany. His family moved to Missouri,U.S at some point in his childhood where some of his brothers and sisters were born. I don't know much about my family's history before then, But I am trying to find out any information on this. His name was Donald Buford Vester, which sounds like an American name I was thinking he may have changed his name upon immigration? Or maybe he was not born in Germany as I had always thought. Any ideas?

Hi

My Mother's maiden name was Vester which is the German variation of the British surname Sylvester. The Vester's that I'm descended from originated in and around Carthorpe, England, once known as Malton Ayton. I'm still researching in order to validate another family member's genealogy that suggests that the Vester family married into the Sotheron-Savile family of Darrington, England. The Savile family of Darrington are reported to have ancestors dating back to Kin Harald "Bluetooth" of Denmark.

My Great-Grandfather was William Bill Vester who was married to Jennie Dail. We have just recently visited their gravesite and wrote down the dates from the tombstones. William was born on March 12, 1857 in Germany and died on January 12, 1936. He died in Wayne or Greene County, NC. Jennie (Jean) was born on April 26, 1861 and died on July 26, 1923. My Mother, who was named by her (Jean), said that everyone called her Jeannie. I have a copy of William, (we called him Pa Bill), and Jennie's Marriage License/Certificate. The dates are conflicting from the tombstone dates. Please email me and will exchange more information. I am new to this and don't know all the ropes. I don't subscribe to anything because I can't afford it. I do have some information of a John Berry Vester and several of his generations that was given to my Mother from her cousins. I just can't connect them to Pa Bill. Anything would be deeply appreciated. I am disabled and this gives me something to do and plus I think everyone needs to know where they came from. Thanks!
Pamela Forrest
Email: LilMame2@aol.com

No dates or ages are entered.
A side note reads "See Randy Vester Spring Hope, NC."
Do any of these name come to mind?
My line of Vesters moved to the Nashville Tn. in the early 1800s. My Mothers Grandparents were William Perry and Mary Adeline Webb. They were both b. in Nash Co NC.

Hope this helps.

William Sharp, Murphy NC.

German Vester's

I have always been told that our family name came from Germany also. I have been told that my grandfather Donald Buford Vester was born in Germany. At some point he lived in Missouri. He married my grandmother (Teresa McDonald) in Maine, and somehow ended up (the military, I believe) in KY. I have been told that he had a great many brothers and sisters (at least 10). I have also noticed from my searches that the name 'Buford Vester' appears in a more than average number of different Vester's names. Has anyone else noticed this, or have any information which links to anything I have stated?

HI JIM, Funny Coincidence

Your name is exactly the same as my first cousin. Our little section of the Vester's live mostly in KY. My grandfather Donald Buford Vester had more than 10 brother's and sisters, but I have never met any of them . I have never met anyone else with the Vester surname. Since your name was the same as my cousin who was named after his father who was the son of my grandfather Donald B., I thought there might have been a common ancester further back with the name James. Also I have noticed that the name Buford seems to come up more than one would expect within the Vester family. Any thoughts or info?

AMELIA or EMALINE VESTER BOCK

We are looking for the parentage of AMELIA or EMALINE VESTER (BOCK)We have always thought our VESTERS were German. They settled in Pike Co., Ohio. AMELIA VESTER'S parents could be LOUIS and MARIA VESTER, or HENRY AND MARIA VESTER. AMELIA VESTER was born abt 1838;, and probably in Pike Co, Ohio. We think her parents were NOT born in America, but immigrated after they were married and brought a widdowed mother with them. Amelia married John (Johannes) A(?) Bock in 1860 in Pike Co, Ohio. They had four children, Elizabeth (Never married, died in Ohio), Henry Charlie (my grandfather), Louis John (never married) and Clara (married late in life, moved to Conn.) All born in Ohio. In 1870 John Bock and AMELIA VESTER BOCK moved to Ill. where she died before 1880 , place also unknown, and the two girls were sent back to Ohio to be raised by relatives. Henry Charlie and Louis moved to Colorado in the 1880's where they both died at elderly ages. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone in their diggings for Vesters? We especially would like to know the definate birthdate, death date, place, etc and who parents and siblings were. Please e-mail me or use the message board if you think you can help. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you much.
Barb

My mother used to collect old photos from tag sales (and now I do too); she recently rediscovered (purchased over 15-20 years ago) an old, enormous sized photo album, many empty pages. There are however 53 photos inside. Most are NOT identified, but you can tell many are related. I am still in the process of scanning these photos if anyone would like to see them when completed. I can list the ones who were identified before we acquired this album.

3 are a "Mother"
1 is a "Dad"
1 is an "Aunt Carrie"
1 is an "Uncle August Prange"
1 is an "Edna Prange"
1 is an "Aunt Emma Prange"
1 is an "Uncle Martin"
1 is an "Uncle Theodore" (ME?)
1 is a "Grandma Naber"
1 is a "Grandpa Naber"
1 is an "Alma Naber"
1 is an "Alma Naber-Ferris"
1 is a "Del Wiese"
1 is a "Dr. Horstmeier"

= 16 of 53 = Please respond if you think you may be related to these people.

Shawn...I do not know from whence my grandfather, John Charles VESTER came from to Texas. According to a Randall County, TX census in 1920, he was born in TX, father and mother also. Do not know their names. John C.(or "Charlie", as he was sometimes called)had four children: James A. (my father), Jack, Eula, and Doris. Jack went to CA, Doris went to OR, Eula married a MARTIN in the Amarillo, TX area, and my father who married Minnie Lee Bozzell of Mineral Wells, TX.
John C. married Jennie Hawkins, daughter of Isaac Newton Hawkins and Mariah Jane Durkee, of Parker County, TX.
I am unsure of the origen of the VESTER name, but suspect also that it was German or Dutch. My father used to refer to himself as "Dutch-Irish". Durkee IS Irish, and I suppose VESTER could be a derivative of "VERSTAIR", a known Dutch surname.
No Bufords in my known line :( Regards,
Jim Vester

Elizabeth was born in Beaver Falls, PA to James Sarah Ann Boyle Donald in 1889. Hope this helps.

Ron,
Have you had any success in tracing the Vester's from the Washington, Pennsylvania area? I have most of the family history since coming to America in the late 1840'. You can also reach me at: FROMOURPLACE@EARTHLINK.NET

John A Vester
