The information that I have , which I think is related to yours is that maybe your grandmother Helen is the same Helen I am related to . She possiby had a brother named Victor and for sure a sister named Mable who's parents were Moses C. Vezina and Mrytle Seevers. Moses parents were Nelson Vezina and Mary Brien. So close , I hope to get accurate updates soon.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I would be pleased if you could provide me with images of documents on this line. Also, do you have any information on Francois Joseph Vezina b.9 June 1849 d.5 Oct 1924? I would like to know how this particular individual fits into the family.

Dear Jean-Louis:

Thank you for answering my post!

I am very happy to hear that you know Denis and that he is your friend. Do you happen to know his parents' names? Are they Bertrand and Rose? Was his father passed away before you knew Denis in the 1960s? Are you about the same age as Denis? I have that he was born in about 1951? You wouldn't know more than that, would you? Does Denis only have a brother Pierre? No other siblings?

Sorry for all the questions. I am so excited that someone has helped me to make a connection of formerly-stray Denis.

Yes, I would love a picture or two of Denis if you are offering.

Thanks for everything!

Shannon :)

In response to Robyn Boyd- VanValkenburg: Can you tell me your father's name and his mother's name? I have not previously seen the name spelled Vezner. But it seems to have been spelled many ways. Larry Vizenor of this board has written to me recently that there were two Vizena men with their families living on the White Earth Reservation at the same time in the middle 1800s. One was my ancestor, Joseph Vezina. The other was his ancestor, Pierre Vezina. Joseph's decendents have spelled the name Visner. Pierre's decendents have spelled the name Vizenor. I am not sure which you belong to without more information. Also, Larry Vizenor could probably help you more that I, as he has done a lot more research on the family. I'm just beginning and seeking help, myself. If you have any information of the families, I would hope you could email it to me at: georgina.dufour@wellsfargo.com.
Charles Vezina/Visinat m. Mary Morin/Moran in Boston

I am looking for info on a Charles Visinat who married a Mary Moran 9 Oct 1854 in Roxbury, Mass. His father is listed as Francis and her father is listed as James. They had Charles Francis Jerome in 1868 and I believe Charles Sr died before 1870 as he's not listed in the 1870 US census with his wife. She appears in the 1880 census as a widow. I cannot find Charles and Mary in 1860 US Census. Charles was 19 and Mary 22 at the time of their marriage.

Charles is listed as being from C.E (Canada East?) on his son's birth record and Mary listed as being from Ireland.

Any help in locating Charles' parents would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Brandy, it has taken me a few days but now regarding Vezina...
My grandfather, Frank Gregoire's father was Philibert G, son of Antoine and Isabelle Vezina married 19Jan1869. to Marguerite Benard, daughter of Thomas and Marie Thuot.
This info is from Henryville, Iberville original recoards on microfilm.
this is all I have on his family.
There has been word of mouth to my mother of Native blood, altho it supposidly was from my grandmother's side (Bentley and Elwell). That side of family is well documented back to the 1600's in RI and MA.
I know Caughnawaga well as many of my friends in Brooklyn, NY were steel workers and I have been to the Res. but at that time was not involved in Geneology.
How did you make the connection to the Res?
I have seen a website that could enter Native lines but did not transfer all data to my new computer. I sure would like to find out. My grandfather looked very Indian except the blue eyes. I feel it is there somewhere hiding from me as many of my attitudes and interests are very native, not anglo.
anyhow let me know what you can and if I find anything of mutual value will forward.
Leah Grant

My great-grandfather was Ovid Vezina/Visner. His parents were Joseph and Elizabeth/Delony/Isabella (she used different first names on the censuses and I do not know her maiden name). I do know she was part Ojibwe or Chippewa and lived at the White Earth Reservation. Ovid and his second wife, Virginia Jane LaFleur (my great-grandmother), had 4 children, 3 of whom are listed on the U.S. Indian censuses at White Earth Indian Reservation (Con Chipp) in Minnesota. Do you have more information on Joseph and Elizabeth Vezina? Who are SE Mooers?

Arthur was a welder by trade after US Navy in WWII as a frogman, now known as Navy Seals. Don't know if this helps you at all. I find this too incredible.
I'm sorry I've never had that spelling in my family. I have Visner, Vezner and Vezina. Wish I could help with the other spellings. If your family is from the white earth reservation than I may have a little information that my cousin obtained prior to my grandfather's 1/2 sister passing away. most if not all Vezners are related to me as my great grandmother changed the spelling to this when she took my grandfather off the reservation when he was between 10 and 13. I petty much gave up on the Vezina's. I can't seem to get back any farther than where I'm at. Look up Joe Visner he is a baseball player with a photo in the hall of fame. He is a cousin down the line. He is a first cousin to my Great Grandfather Edward Vezner. I am hoping you have info also. Can't wait to hear back!

Alan Rice -- I would appreciate a copy of the family group picture that includes Mose and other children of Narcisse Nelson Vezina (my great grandfather, also). My grandmother was Helen (or Ellen) Vezina. Thanks, Diana
