Hello Rey, so nice to here from a Villa, please look into Family Tree DNA www.familytreedna.com or even better 23andMe at www.23andMe.com

I and my brother have tested with these companies. For the ease of use, results and nice and helpful folks it would be my recommendation and but there are many other companies to chose from.

I don't have a Roberto in my Villa line but DNA testing can usually tell if we are related or not.

Thank you for writing and for testing, it will be nice to here what your results all.

Marie

Hi, I find a Lamar Villa b Dec 24, 1959 Male to mother Lydia Garcia and father Rene Villa.

You didn't mention your age or the birth years of your mother so I don't know if this is your line or not.

I found this thru www.ancestry.com Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997, Bureau of Vital Statistics. A really good source. I did not do a search on Lamar Villa, I just found the above reference on my search sheets.

I do not find, as of yet, any relation
Re: San Antonio VILLA'S

Hi

I found more info on the internet this past summer. My fathers name is Pete Villa, from San Antonio, (I started with that info many years ago). I have now found Pete's parents name as well as his step-siblings. I called one sister and she was the same as the rest of the family. "We do not talk about our family and we are not interested in the fact there are undeclared children." Is this a religeous thing?

My husband & I had the privelage of meeting a nephew of Poncho Villa's wife. While I was inquiring about the many children Poncho was responsible of fathering, he said "there was only one child born to Poncho, a girl, who died an infant. There were no more children of the marriage". Well, that is probably true, but we all know Poncho had numerous wives (OK they were not legal) but he had many children by them.

I do not know who my Villas ancestors are, but what a weird experience I'm running into about births of children. If illigitimate children are not recorded due to the religion or race or whatever, what a genealogical mess we have.

My other ancestorial lines from England, Sweden etc. show all children born to a male, up to a point. I've even run into an old contract made with a mistress protecting her financially until the gentlemen married.

Sorry I vented, but it seems you have run into the same problem. I know that our previous generations, about 2 or 3, did not like discussing "family situations". But we sure all have them.

Val

Villa names in San Fernando Valley

I'm doing some research on my family. Villa is my mother's maiden name and she has been passed away for almost 6 years. I don't know much about her father's side of the family. I know her dad's name was Filimon Villa and he came here from Mexico when he as about 2 years old. I'm really not familiar with much of his siblings or who his parents were or where they were from. I want to find out more about who I might be related to.

If you might be aware of part of your family that might have this last name and grew up in this part of the United States please respond. Also if you know any family members that have possibly moved any where else.

Maria Andrea Eligia Villa Valencia

I am searching for information on Andrea Villa. She was born around 1862, in Sonora. We think she was married to Manuel Duarte around 1887. They came to the U.S. around the time their son, Ignacio, my wife's grandfather, was born. One record has Ignacio born in Tombutillo another in Tucson around 1888. She may have been Manual's third wife or they may not have been married.

Regards. Dave Nelson, Folsom, CA.

Neither of the stories above have a reason why he specifically changed his name to Pancho. I do. My great-great grandfather Fransisco Villa found Doroteo Arango hiding from the officials after him. He had just begun to commit his 'crimes'. Fransisco offered Doroteo shelter in his home and gave him his name and from then on he was Pancho Villa.
