HOPE U CAN HELP ME FIND VILLERS FAMILIES

My name is Myrna Villers & my husband is Don. Don's dad, Albert Villers, came to Oklahoma from W. Virginia & married Nola McClarry in 1937. Don was born in 1938. Albert had two older sisters, but Don only met his cousins once when he was very young. His parents divorced, and his dad died in 1959. Nola was 18 & Albert was either 44 or 45 when they married. Is there anyone out there who knows any Villers who might be related to Don? We are interested in hearing from them. We were surprised to see two Villers listed in the Branson phone book, but didn't have time to call them. Villers is not a common name. Thanks to anyone who can help. Don's mother has dementia & can't remember hardly anything about her husband's family.

NOT RELATED , BETTY

I descend from Margaret Villers and John Garrett thru their daughter Esther who married Joseph Hammond. My information is very limited. I was hoping someone could inform me as to how they came to know that Francis Villers was the father of Margaret Villers? I have concentrated many years on another Garrett line from Montgomery County, Kentucky and am now just beginning to find out about my other Garrett/Villers line from Shelby County, Kentucky. Joseph Hammond and Esther Garrett moved to Nelson County, Kentucky to raise a large family. Will gladly exchange what information I have with others who are willing to do the same!

Hi Stella,
I have some corrections to your info on Elizabeth Janes Villers.
Elizabeth Janes Villers was born on 1 January 1838 in Boothscreek, Taylor Co. VA/WV (not Tyler Co.) she was the daughter of Thomas H. Janes, SR and Eunice Clelland. Elizabeth Janes was married to Charles H. Villers in Taylor County, VA/WV on 5 June 1856, Thomas H. Janes, Sr posted their marriage bond. The only child of theirs born in other than Taylor Co. was James E. "Jeb" Villers the rest were born in Taylor Co. VA/WV. The farm and land that Elizabeth and Charles owned there and lived on there in Taylor Co. was given to them by her father and mother. Elizabeth sold a part of her land to build the Janes United Memorial Church which at first was located on Turkey run later renamed Tappan in 1902. Later in 1922 this church was moved to the land on which is located the Janes Cemetery that was on part of her father's farm and was and is the Janes Cemetery which was began as a family burial place. Thomas H. Janes, Sr. made provisions for this in his will. The cemetery was there prior to the church being moved there. This is where Elizabeth Janes Villers and her husband Charles are buried. James E. "Jeb" Villers married Alice Bennett in Taylor Co. WV 21 October 1882 and his marriage records also reflects he was born in Taylor Co. James and Alice had a daughter, Forest Lola Villers 25 November 1897 in Grafton, Taylor Co. WV.
Jana Jaynes Thomas

Jay, today is the first time I have looked at these message boards. If you are the great grandson of James Villers b. 1856, who moved to Tama County Iowa, I am guessing you must be a grandson of James' son Jay???? If so please contact me at leclerc@fament.com. I knew Jay Villers, born 1893 personally and have pictures of him taken at my home, among others. James Villers and Hannah Alice McCoy were my great-great grandparents. "Grandpa Jim" died when I was nine and I remember him well. Have several good pictures of him also. Hope to hear from you or others with this connection.

Dear Kim,I think that your grandfather was my grandfather's brother and that he was born in Birmingham and not buringham as posted. If this is the right person I can trace the family back into the 17th century. They were originally Hugenots who came to England to escape religious persecution, first settled in London and then became ribbon weavers in Coventry. There is a village in France with a name very similar to Villers and this is where they probably originated from. When the ribbon industry collapsed in the 1840s due to industrialisation many people left Coventry and settled all over the world.Regards Maureen
