Jane Vincent/Vinson D/o Lewis Vincent/Vinson and Sallie Adams

I am trying to find out who the father of Jane's kids are and there is a family tell that the last name was changed from Vincent to Vinson, due to someone having children out of wedlock. I am assuming if this is true that Jane would be the woman having children out of wedlock. her DC states husband is John vincent though the only one that I find in any census with her is her brother in the 1900. Also there is supposed to be an Amos Vincent that she fathered Baxter(obituary) with. In looking at the census the only Amos that I have found is a neighbor. This leads me to believe that either this married neighbor who was Amos Mungo either fathered all of her children while still married or at least some of them. Also I have noticed that 4 Children are Vinson changed after census before death and two are still Vincent. Monse died in his 20's and he was the oldest. Baxter died in 2007, but in the 1920 or 1930 census he is showed living with a Mungo which would prove my theory also as there was never a Man listed as the head of household for Jane.

Anyone who would like to share please respond she was my GGgrandmother.

Jane Vincent-Hollis H Vinson-Billy Ross Vinson-Patricia Joyce Vinson(had me out of wedlock)Nikkie Vinson
Re: information on Vinson

I may or may not be able to help here. My maiden name is Vinson and I am from Oklahoma City, but my grandfather Edward Melvin Vinson lived in Lincoln County, somewhere around either the Stroud or Davenport area. I don't know much about him since he expired when my father was only 15 in 1963, however, I have a few things that I have been looking up. Not much luck yet, but I am working on it and think I may have some leads. The issue I have run into is that there are a TON of Vinson's in Oklahoma. My parent's have since moved back to Oklahoma from Texas and have some Vinson's that live down the street from them and to our knowledge, there is no relation. My uncle Richard Vinson has done a lot of family history research from what I understand and I am in the process of getting in contact with him to find out if he can send me some information to make looking this up a bit easier. Let me know if you want me to keep in touch with you and relay some of the information I get. It may be far fetched, but who knows, maybe we will both find our missing links. If you have any other information that may be helpful in identifying which Vinson "clan" you belong to, as I am looking for things, if I run into something that looks like it is useful to you, whether it is my "clan" or not, I will be happy to pass that information along. Thanks!

Hi and thanks;
I'd be happy to take the photo if no one else requests it. There are several Vinson lines in Alabama (mine is one) that migrated over from Georgia. We don't know how they are all connected (not yet anyway).

v/s Jim Lynch

I am doing genealogy because I know little about my paternal side of the family "Vinson". My great grandparents were Carl and Lela Vinson and from what I have heard Carl had or has a sister named Pearl living in Oklahoma. They stayed around Searcy, Arkansas. My aunt said that the rumor is the previous surname was Vincent but someone was a horse thief and had it changed. If anyone knows ne thing please contact me
