On the 1860 census James & Christina are living next to Nicholas & Martha Vipperman in Patrick Co., Ararat PO with a Nancy Jane Vipperman.

In 1880 there is a Iowa Vipperman listed in the household of
Iwaona Cockram, a widow.

Name: Iowa Vipperman
[Iowa Cockram]
Home in 1880: Smiths River, Patrick, Virginia
Age: 18
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1862
Birthplace: Virginia
Relation to Head of Household: Daughter
Spouse's Name: Hosiah I.
Father's birthplace: Virginia
Mother's Name: Iwaona T.
Mother's birthplace: Virginia
Household Members: Name Age
Iwaona T. Cockram 41
William Cockram 16 son
Hosiah I. Vipperman 19 son-in-law
Iowa Vipperman 18 daughter
Thos. A. Hubord 26 boarder

Source Citation: Year: 1880; Census Place: Smiths River, Patrick, Virginia; Roll T9_1383; Family History Film: 1255383; Page: 130.2000; Enumeration District: 161;

Perhaps the last name of Iowa was not Vipperman on the 1860 census. Osia on the 1870 census could be the Hosiah on the 1880 census.

looking for death info on Nicholas Vipperman b. c 1818

Hi,
I have just recently started researching the Vipperman line. (I am descended from his daughter Christina, through her marriage to James Moran.)
I found Nicholas and wife Martha on 1870 Elk Garden, Russell, Virginia, census with children Isaac, Osia, & Iowa. It's possible these are grandchildren.
My question is that some researchers have a death date for Nicholas as 8 Mar 1868, but there is no source for the date. If this is the correct date, then are the Nicholas and Martha on the 1870 census, the same couple? If not, then where is Martha in 1870?

Also, if 8 Mar 1868 IS the correct death date for Nicholas, then does anyone have any documentation? Where is he buried?

Thanks so much,
Kristi

Thanks. I tried accessing Geni. and it ran out of space for "V" names before it got to Vipperman.

If you are using Windows, one thing you might try to send you tree is taking a screen shot (print screen), pasting it into "Paint", saving it as a .jpg file and then e-mailing it to
duke.vipperman@sympatico.ca. Do that as often as you need to cover the ground.

I'll compare it with what I have found (sketchy before 1800) and see what compares. I also have some pics I can share.

Thanks and blessings.

Rev'd Dr. Duke Vipperman

I'm going to try and find a way to send you the Family tree I have made on www.geni.com. I have 330 people right now on there and they are all in some way connected to a Frederick vipperman and Rachel vipperman from holland.

It is under George Washington Vipperman

I am the girlfriend of Frederick vipperman son of chere vipperman. He is legally under his grandparents though whom are Henry Eugene Vipperman and Grace.

To see the tree I believe you would have to join the site (its free) and if you just search vipperman it will show everything in a list format. The tree is very rough right now I'm just starting to get facts rechecked and names and nicknames corrected But everything on there seems to be correct

I suspect that Frederick Vip is is the father to Daniel George "Red Dutch" Vipperman, the Patriarch of my branch of the Vipperman tree in America. However I have found no documentation to prove my suspision. He would have been born probably in the mid 1700's (or earlier) in Holland/Germany. If you or anyone else has any info to confirm this please contact me!!! I hope you can make the Vip Reunion in Vesta VA next Sunday @ Noon! 6/30/2002
Pam Vip Arnold

My grandfather was Benonie Tuisquo(spelling?) Vipperman. I don't know any of his brothers however, I will contact my aunt and let you know. If she has any idea. I do know that he married a Maude Scott and they had I think 5 children. The youngest daughter was my mother which died 2 months after I was born. Papaw was born in Virginia I believe, somewhere near the border of NC. I hope this helps.

My great grandfather John Henry, we beleive was a first cousin to your John Henry. I found marriage and birth records in Virginia to support this. My John Henry was married to Elixabeth Cockram Dec. 20. 1888. My John Henry's father was probably Les Daniel Vipperman, while the father of yours, we think, was Nicholas vipperman. Ring any bells?
