WILLIAM Vogan FOUND DEAD IN HIS BED AT HOME
Aged Citizen Who Lived In New Castle More Than 40 Years Passes Away
Had seen Change From Village To City

For 20 years, he was an employe of the "New Mill." He never fully recovered from injury sustained in 1859. Funeral is Sunday. At time of death he resided at 544 Pittsburgh St. The venerable man was 86 years, 11 months and 26 days of age, and one of New Castle's real "Old Timers." He came to the city in 1837 from Butler County, where he was born. Mr. Vogan was a blacksmith in the old Reis, Boron and Berger Mills for a period of 20 years. He was injured in 1859, and had never fully recovered from the effects of the accident, although he was able to get around.
He was a member of First Methodist church having joined many years ago. His wife Anna Vogan died 12 years ago. Surviving are three sons, Thomas and William at home and Frank of California; also two daughters, Mrs. R.W. Reynolds [Mary] and Mrs. C.F. Schoenfield [Elizabeth] of this city. He leaves two half sisters, Mrs. Jack Jones of Minnesota and Ellen Houge of Oregon. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 at the residence and interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.
