Myrtle Fern Vogelpohl, 86, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at University Nursing and Rehabilitation in Edwardsville.
A daughter of Ermon and Mary Ann (Cole) Cole, she was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Norris City, Ill.
She married George Vogelpohl on Oct. 18, 1934. He died Feb. 18, 1986.
She had been employed as a presser at National Cleaners.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Peggy Ann Vogelpohl of East Alton; two grandchildren, Michael Vogelpohl and his wife, Debbie, and Jeffrey Vogelpohl and his wife, Christy, all of Alton; two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Victoria Vogelpohl; a sister, Naomi Middleton of Alton; a brother, Gerald Cole and his wife, Cathy, of East Alton; six nieces, Linda Vines, Randy Middleton, Sara Lansdale, Sue Lamarsh, Denie Turner and Lauren Miller; and six nephews, Oliver, Bill, Alan, Dewight, Stanley and Wendell McAfoos.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Milton "Dale" Vogelpohl; four sisters, Nadine Kelly, Edna McBride, Lorraine McGarvey and Lucille McAfoos; and a brother, David Cole.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, where the Rev. Ivan Gruder will officiate at services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society Gateway Area Chapter, 1867 Lackland Hill Parkway, St. Louis, MO 63146.
