This is my family. I know we've communicated before. I believe you have a picture of John and Jane and their family that you sent me back in 2005 which I unfortunately lost when my computer crashed. Can you please send me a copy of it again? My email is onsitellc@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Linda Massey

Hi, Unfortunately you stumbled upon a board full of those who are transcribing records vial the World Archives Project. Primarily what this board is for is questions about transcription rules, and various aspects of the project. While I wish you luck in your research, you are unlikely to find family connections here.

If you are still interested in the ancestors of Franz Henrich and Johann Friedrich Vollmer (Eickum, Herford, Germany) I can give you some further information (from the emigration file of Herford County or from church records).
My ggg-grandfather was Berend Vollmer (*1708, Herford-Diebrock). In 1731 he merried the widow Dustmann and called himself Dustmann from that day on. I suppose Berend's father Johann Henrich is an ancestor of Johann Friedrich Vollmer in Eickum.

Friedrich-Wilhelm Dustmann, DustmannFW@aol.com

My gggg-grandmother was Maria "Mary" Josephine Vollmer who was reportedly born in New Orleans 12-22-1844. She moved to Cape Girardeau, MO. She died on 10-18-1921. Her father was Henry Charles Vollmer (b. 1818, d.1871) and her mother was Elizabeth Scheerer (or Sherea). Looking to see if these Vollmer's are in related to any other New Orleans Vollmer's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My maternal grandmother, Mayme Rainey, told me they were family friends. I'll look and see if I can find out anything more on them. Do you have any info on my grandmother's father, Robert P.

Hello,

You bet you can help....My gg grandfather, Anton VOLLMER, came to America as a young man in 1853. Anton was born in 1833 AND in Baden, Germany. He was a stow-a-way passenger and worked his way over on the ship. It took several months to make the trip which came into port at New Orleans.

Anton's parents had a total of 6 children but we only know the name of 2. We know of one sister, Mary Magdalena, who ended up in the United States and she married a GERBER. According to the US census, Magdalena immigrated in 1880
and became a naturalized citizen.

Anton and Magdalina's parents were Sylvester and Magdallina STACKER VOLLMER, both from Baden, Germany.

Over time, Anton VOLLMER worked his way north and eventually ended up in Macon, IL where he died. In 1900, Anton purchased about 720 acres of land, a rice farm, in Louisiana near Abbeville. Three of his sons, Edward, Frank and John with his wife Ollie, as well as a daughter, Ida Suzanne and her husband, John Huber, moved down to Louisiana to farm the land. Only Edward remained in LA but there are still VOLLMER descendants living in the area.

I am VERY anxious to learn of your connection to this line and, of course, any other information that you can add.
Please get back to me with your response.

Kay

Just in case you are still looking, I am a great-grandaughter of Henry Vollmer, who died in Loma Linda California in the early 1980's (can't remember exactly the year) His first wife died when his children were younger, her name was Rose Barber (not sure of the spelling). His second wife, Marion, lived until May of 1988. He had three children, two survived to adulthood: Margaret Rose Vollmer Richards, and Donald Vollmer.

This Henry Vollmer was a doctor; he worked in St. Helene, Washington for a time then moved to Loma Linda. His back yard was full of fruit trees and he was always growing things. Is this your Henry Vollmer?

Almost a year ago, you posted a message offered the following.

"If you are searching for your Vollmer ancestors emigrated from Wuerttemberg I can offer you my help. Send a mail to Markogen@aol.com
Martin"

If your offer still stands, I'm looking for information on Christian Vollmer and his wife, Elizabeth Roth. Christian Vollmer was born about 1808 in Württemberg. I suspect that he emigrated to the US probably in the 1830's, maybe earlier, where he settled in Cincinnati, OH and lived the rest of his life. I believe he's shown as a head-of-household in the 1840 census for Cincinnati and he's definitely in the 1860 through 1880 census records for Cincinnati. His wife was an Elizabeth Roth who was also a German immigrant. She was born 13 Jan 1813 in Württemberg. I don't know if they were married before or after arriving in the US.

Christian Vollmer's interment record at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati can be accessed at this URL.

http://www.springgrove.org/sg/genealogy/stats/41075.tif.pdf

His wife's interment record can be accessed at this URL.

http://www.springgrove.org/sg/genealogy/stats/12608.tif.pdf

I have some additional information if that would help. And Christian and Elizabeth Vollmer were my g-g-g grandparents.

Many thanks in advance!

Regards,

D. Dewey Allen

My Augustus Vollmer hailed from Wurtenburg. He married Sophia Kiefer, from Baden. I believe they came about 1843, but can't find the immigration. Their children were Adolph, Emma, Sophia, Charles Augustus, Elisa, Carolyn Louise and Henry Paul. The family started off in Phila and then went to Cincinatti and then down to NYC- also a few other places for a short time. I have alot of downward info from there. Adolph being my gt grandfather, and I have a cousin who knows tons of info. I happen to be researching the family at the moment. Sue Maxwell

VOLLMERS OF TEXAS

Records in Medina County, Texas show that Valentine Vollmer (Sheriff of Medina County), born June 12, 1833 in Eppstein, Pfalz, Bavaria, Germany died July 17, 1879. My Grandfather, Ferdinand Joseph Vollmer, son of Valentine, was not born until June 1886 (7 years after Valentine's death). This is a very controversial issue. Valentine's wife, Mary Wenz (or Wentz) died in 1920. According to the Bexar County Census, she was living in my grandfather's home just before her death. No one in the family seems to know of any stories that give an explanation to the time variance between the death of Valentine and the birth of Ferdinand. No one has ever spoken of my grandfather as having a different father than Valentine Vollmer. DOES ANYONE HAVE INFORMATION THAT RELATES IN ANY WAY TO THIS MYSTERY? PLEASE HELP !!
THANKS

Sue,
Read your message about my mother who is still alive at 91 and in good health. She lives in NH and I visit her a couple of times a year to learn more about our ancestors. I spoke with her recently and told her you were trying to contact her children about Carl Vollmer. She can help, of course, and she would like to renew correspondence with you as she had done awhile ago when you lived in WV, ironically where I live now. Yes, she has done alot of research on her ancestors including the Vollmer line that includes your step grandfather Carl who was her uncle. I have helped her try to acquire new information about all her ancestors using the internet and that's how I came across your message here. Recently, I have started to help her organize her infomation and will continue this to some degree into the future as I have the time. Let me know how my mother and I can help you with information about Carl Vollmer's family. BOB

Henry WAPPNER, found guilty of murder in the first degree, for killing Louise VOLLMER, was next called. Through an interpreter he protested his innocence of any intended murder - that the woman was his friend, and he had no desire to injure her; that he was drunk, and supposed
he must have done the fatal deed during his intoxication. The Judge reviewed the facts in the case, commented upon the evidence of the fact that the crime was committed for the purposes of gain, etc., and finallypronounced upon him the sentence of death, and appointed Friday, the eventeenth day of June next, for his execution.

San Mateo County Gazette
Redwood City, San Mateo County, California
Saturday Morning, May 7, 1859, Vol. 1 No. 5.
