Isaiah Vorys is known to have been in New Jersey, Sherwood's Ferry, Later called French Town, Hunterdon, New Jersey. Born Aug. 5, 1770 and died near Columbus ,Ohio Mar. 16, 1834. He was in the battle of Elizabethtown, and was discharged, in 1781. He lived also in Washington Co. Pa, before moving on to Ohio. Two daughters are known, Annie Vorys married John Hallam and Sally Vorys, was the second wife of Thomas Hallam, father of John. A third daughter may be Catherine, who married William Stevison, in New Jersey. Annie and Sally were born about 1773 and 1775. Catherine would also have been of similiar age, probably born about 1776. William and Catherine Stevison, were in Washington Co. Pa, where their daughter Anne V. Stevison, became the third wife of John R. Sturgeon, Feb. 11, 1814. All of these families later moved into Ohio. Still searching for other families. ( John R. and Anne Stevison Sturgeon, named a son James Voris Sturgeon, Born Jan. 1830, Belmont Co. Ohio. (This is the spelling they used, but, you have to remember, no formal schooling for most in that time frame. This makes tracing more of a challange?
