Hi there, I don't know how, but I seem to have got a message from you via Ancestory.co.
Yes I believe I had an ancestor called Vos.I'll give you some brief details and you can decide if we a common tree. The guy I am intersted in was Edward Myer Vos born 1807 (died 1873)
probably came from Holland.......married a girl called Betsey, and had 6 children (Sarah,Julia,Rachael,Blooney , Michael and Daniel) all lived in Toxteth ( a good Jewish family !)...........Sarah married a guy called John Jones from London (?).........and again had a large family, one of their daughters was a girl called Amelia........(all still living in Toxteth).......she was my maternal Grandmother. I've ben trying to push back Edward Myer Vos into Holland but am struggling.....I think I found his wife's maiden name somewhere.........another Dutch name.......anyway........is this any good to you?
cheers
David Williams
I think this is the couple you are looking for. Herberdiena's name usually appears as van Twist, but you will see van Furst/z on a couple of the documents (see 1870 and 1904).
The Rev. Frederick William Fox (Vos?)

To all:
My great-grandpa, the Rev. Frederick William (F.W.) Fox, was born in either Rotterdam or Amsterdam in the middle of the nineteenth century, and got his Doctor of Divinity degree at Oxford (Cambridge?) in England. (He was not an Anglican clergyman, but was Dutch Reformed.) He then emigrated to New York City some time in the latter half of the nineteenth century, where he had three children, Fred, Edna, and my grandpa, Henry Jacob Fox, who was born in September 1889 and died in May 1972. (The Rev. F.W. died a few months before my grandpa was born.) Henry married Florence Will (1893-1984), and had three daughters, Doris (1916-), Virginia (1921-), and my mom, Pauline (1924-1994). Much of the Fox family is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery up in the Bornx, but, unfortunately, dead people have no stories to tell. Having said that, any information on the Fox (Vos?) saga would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Matthew Paul Seltzer

VOS/VOCE

I am researching members of the VOCE family of Rolleston in Nottinghamshire, England. The name started off with David VOSE in the 1600s, father of Samuel VOS born in 1695. Samuel had a son William VOCE born in 1731.

So I am looking for connections to the names VOSE, VOS, VOCE of Nottinghmashire. until about 1825.
