Voss Family

I am trying to find the parents of my 2nd great grandmother, Wilhelmine "Tina" Voss. She was born 10 Feb 1836 in Darmstat, Germany. She married Ludwig Luelloff (Lulloff) 25 Sep 1853 in Herman, Sheboygan Co., WI. Tina died 22 Jun 1920. It is possible that her parents were Gottfried Voss and Maria Elizabeth Schwan as Gottfried's name keeps occuring near Ludwig and Tina. I would really like to prove it one way or the other. Any help out there?

Frederick G Voss Family

I'd like to learn more about the Frederick G Voss family. I believe Mr. Voss was born around 1817 in Prussia (Germany) and immigrated to the US around 1844. I believe the family may have been in Ohio for awhile before settling in Evansville, Indiana by 1880 (based on census data).
Please contact me at bbatts@sprynet.com with any information you can provide. I can share info on the family after 1880.
I have begun a search of my own lines which I can trace back to Denmark and Germany late 18th century. Does anyone out there have links to the VOSS name in Aabenraa, Denmark, around 1815 to 1860? Earlier connections seem to be at Killinshusen, Denmark (Marse VOSS, b21 Jul 1815). Father is Julius Marx VOSS.

David B Voss

My Grandfather was John Milford Voss (8/30/87--5/16/54). He moved to Lamar County, Mississippi in the 1920's from the Sand Mountain area in north Alabama. He had a brother named Charley Voss. His father was James Holmes Voss (1862-1940). He also lived in the Sand Mountain area, either at Boaz or Anniston area. I am searching for Voss relatives in Alabama who are descendants of James Holmes Voss. I am also searching for any information on the identity of James Holmes Voss' father or mother. Any assistance would be appreciated.

John H. Voss
john.h.voss@att.net

Hi out there in research land! I sure hope that someone out there can give me a hand. I am looking for a James Voss who was born in 1854, not sure but think Mosouri. He married a Susan Widerner who was born in 1853, not sure where, could be Mo as well. Together they had 9 children: Melvin, Nettie, Maude, Mary, Ethel, Grace, Vance, Lela(my gr grandmother) and Myrtle. Lela was born in 1885 and died 1946 in Seattle washington from a tainted flu vaccination given by the Navy. Her daughter was the wife of an Admiral there. Does this ring any bells??? If so please contact me at CodyKaren@aol.com Thanks!

Voss and Hein Family Connections in Minnesota

Hello - I am hoping to connect with the extended families of the William and Florentine Wartenberg family. William Hein was born in Germany in 1854, son of Frederick and Wilhelmina Elke Hein. (Frederick and Wilhelmina were my 2nd great grandparents-my great grandfather was August, brother of William.) Wm married Florentine in 1876 and lived on a farm in Stearns County, Minnesota. Their children were Augusta, Melvin, Reuben and Elsie. Augusta married Charles Liebrenz; Melvin married Bertha Voss; Reuben married Emma Kanne; and Elsie married Edwin Manz. In 1925 Florentine died and in 1929 William married Mrs. Augusta Westover, a widow. William died on March 5, 1940. My email is sug53@earthlink.net - Thank you! Sue Manz Graham

Hello Listers:

Do any of you have an interest in the above names? I have Vaus/Vause records in my family history back to ca 1525 in Hampshire, England. I suspect a connection with early Vaux (deVaux) families in the 1400s. For those times I must rely on unusual church, manorial etc., rolls and histories.

Can any of you help? Many thanks, Stan Vass.

Vass/Voss Family in Volusia County, Florida

Looking for information about Vass/Voss family in Volusia County, Florida. In 1850, Thomas J. Voss is found with his family in Newton Co, GA. Next door is Eliza Alexander with children Richard, James, Albert, and Victoria. Thomas's wife Elizabeth's maiden name is Alexander....so if Eliza her sister in law?? Family story is that Thomas J. left his GA family and started another family in another state. I find Thomas J. in 1860 census records in Volusia County, FL living alone. In next household is Alexander Rose and Eliza Vass with children James Vass, Richard Vass, Britt Vass, and Victoria Vass. These are obviously the same people as living next door to him in 1850 in GA. Trying to figure out what relation Eliza is to Thomas or did he run off with his neighbor?? Elizabeth, his wife is found in 1880 living with her son while Thomas is found in Volusia County, FL living with a new wife Susan A. Davis. From 1860 to 1880, Richard, James, & Victoria Vass are found living with or next to Thomas Vass.

Thomas J. is known or recorded as VOSS in GA but in FL, he is recorded as VASS.

If anyone has any information about the Vass/Voss family of Volusia County, please contact me for exchange of information or just trying to figure it all out together. Thanks.

Searching for any info at all, especially ancestors of Sarah Ann Voss who married Ezekiel Arrington in Mississippi. As she is noted on the 1850 MS census as being 21 years old (Ezekiel was 36) and noted to have been born in MS. She has been reported elsewhere as dying in 1856. One correspondent thought she might be the daughter of Smith Voss, but I have no data at all on that. Brick Wall.....Help
Would appreciate even suspicions. Ed Stump

So far I know that they had at least 3 sons - John b. 1851, Ludwig b. 1859 (Louie-my gg-grandfather), and Frank b. 1863 (all Germany). The spacing between them suggest there are other siblings. I also know that they immigrated to the US in approx. 1869 when Louie was 10-years-old. This is from Louie's obit and some census records. If anyone has anything on Friedericke's parents, siblings, or children, I would love to here from you. Regards, Connie
