I was intrigued by a post that you receved some years back where there is a reference to Frank Witthuhn being born in Netzow. If it was Netzow near Templin then my great-great grandfather (whose name was Johannes Heinlein) was the school teacher in this town. I have visited this tiny village. At the time of Frank's birth there were about 150 people in the village and my family had 11 children.

I have a poorly translated copy of a diary written by my great-great grandfather.

Phillip Kerle

This is a pretty old message, so I don't know if you still want the info. I have come into possession of memorabilia referencing a Mary Voth who married John M. Penner on June 1, 1919 in Enid, Oklahoma. This is a little confusing, because I think her name is Voth by her second marriage and Penner was her first marriage. Other names mentioned in various papers are Henry Voth, Anna Harms, and an Hon. Jacob Voth. Would like to get these to relatives if they want them.

Pat,
My name is Terri (Rempel) Silbersdorff and I and trying desperately to find out anything about my Greatgrandmother. She was Helena Voth married to my Greatgrandfather, Kornelius Peters. What I have found so far is that she was both April 26, 1843 and died October 10, 1935. She and my grandfather lived in Mountain Lake, MN or one of the smaller towns around there. They were married March 17, 1860 according to what I have and had thirteen children I believe is the correct count, my grandmother susanna Peters rempel being the last child. I have a german family bible but it giveds nothing about Helena's family. A very good geneaologist in Piortland, Orgeon can not get me any farther back on the Voth's but has the Peter's family back to one generation past Aaron Johan Peters born about 1781. I would really like to find out who Helena's parents were but.....
Should you like to correspond, please feel free to do so at my email address which is ttlear@comcast.net
Thank you.

I had a great aunt named Susanna nee: Voth. She doesn't fit your time frame, but my grandfather, Henry P Voth, came to the US in 1875 also. It could be that your Susanna was a relative of my grgrandfather, Peter K Voth. Sister-in-law, etc. My ggf moved his family to Mountain Lake, Minn. He had his wife, Helena, two sons, Henry Peter and Abraham James. In Mountain Lakes they had a daughter, Elizabeth. All ended up moving to Kansas. What else can I tell you, or does this fit in at all???

Pat

I have found an Elizabeth Voth, born about 1850--not sure where--father is Peter Voth, born 1835, no mother found at this time.
Her husband is Abraham Klassen, born 1851, again, not sure where; he died in 1880; parents are Gerhart Klassen and Maria Reimer. Is this sounding familiar to any of your work?

To the question of Helena Richert and Anna Richert, I only have the date of Helena's marriage as 30 Nov. 1865. Anna was my great-grandfather Johann's first wife. I have her birth om 1797. If they are sisters, their father is Cornelius Richert. I have him listed as Anna's father. I think there may be a good many decendents from Anna and Johann possibly living in the Inman-Buhler Kansas area. I have found some information on Cornelius Voth, Anna and Johann's son. Cornelius died in 1926.

There are no definative answers to the birth years of both Anna and Helena (about 1815 and about 1840). However, Anna was some 25 years senior to Helena so it is unlikely they were sisters. No one has been able to find out who either of their parents were. We only know that they did, indeed marry the brothers Johann and Heinrich Voth, and both marriages were held in Waldheim, Molotschna Colony, South Russia. (Heinrich marrying Helena 8 months after his first wife, Anna Decker, died.)
Larry

No problem.
I figured that the stuff from GD and the ship list would either add or clear up the issue.
Too me, either helps.

I'd like to share a breakthrough I had today.
My ggrandfather was Heinrich Voth, came over with his grandparents and cousins Penner in 1874.
They went on to Kansas apparently, but he stayed somewher "in Illinois with a Mr. Zehr" who Americanized his name to Henry Foote.
When he "came of age" he went down to Kansas.

I came upon this wonderful site:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

I was searching for Henry Foote in the 1880 census records with his birth date given from many sources.
I finally took out the birth date and got this:

Henry FOOTE Household
Male

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Information:
Birth Year <1865>
Birthplace PRUSS
Age 15
Occupation Laborer
Marital Status S <Single>
Race W <White>
Head of Household Christian ZEHR
Relation Other
Father's Birthplace PRUSS
Mother's Birthplace PRUSS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Source Information:
Census Place Deer Creek, Tazewell, Illinois

Our family has NEVER known who this Mr. Zehr was, or where in Illinois Henry Foote stayed.
Now we know all that, plus that he stayed there at least 6 years.

Incidently, Henry's birthdate according to family records does not match the data from the ship list NOR this census.
BUT, the ship list and census DO match.

The family I meant is the one you mention from the Brothers In Deed, where the Andreas Voth is 53 and the only date match is with Heinrich.

I have Heinrich's date of birth from his father's journal. Has him b. 6 Jun 1867. His headstone in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City Iowa has 1867-1942. For the GD entry on him I don't know who made the assumption that he's the Heinrich from the Vaderland. Otherwise all the details are correct for my Heinrich/Henry.

As for the Susanna you found, her birthdate matches my Susie perfectly. The birthdate I have is from my dec'd uncle's research. I don't believe he was aware of the GD as he passed away in 1980. So it would be a separate source and thus most likely the same person. It says that her grandfather would be a Benjamin Koehn just like my Helena's father was a Benjamin. But her 4 brothers were supposedly born between 1854-58 according to her insurance application and her mother would have been born abt 1818. So I don't think Andreas B. Koehn (Susie's father) would be Helena's brother.

Thanks for all the search ideas!

Kind regards
Shanan

Came across your request by accident. Looked up info in the Grandma program. In there, it starts with Cornels Voth born about 1700. To print, it's about 144 pages of info. If you do not havethis CD, please e-mail me and I can tell you how to purchase it.
pthiessen@sympatico.ca

Sharon,
Thank you so very much! I can't afford to subscribe to
some of the 'gen' sites, and have been trying to do this
just using the 'Net. Naturally, I haven't been able to
find very much.

You just saved me hours upon hours (perhaps more!)
of searching and pulling my hair out!

You are an angel, and many blessings to you from
the Witthuhns of Alabama.

Sumarie

Klatt, Voth

I am looking for information on descendants of
Victor Frank Witthuhn and Doris Katherine Klatt of
the Columbus and Watertown area of Wisconsin.

My daughter, Dorothy, is Victor's great-granddaughter,
and we know little or nothing about these families.

Doris was also married to a Gordon John Voth, and I
believe there were children of this marriage, too.

All I have in the Witthuhn line is Dorothy's father,
Dennis Victor, Jr, son of Dennis Victor, Sr. and
Dorothy Mae Ikard. Dennis, Sr. is the son of Victor
Frank and Doris.

If anyone has any information that they would like to
share-I'm interested in tracing both names back as
far as possible.

If you prefer not to post publically, you may email me at
spotdot34@yahoo.com. Please reference 'Witthuhn' in the
subject line.

Thanks!
