Born 1825, Dublin, Ireland to Irish - German parents, Real name Carney, Well educated, spoke several languages and was musically gifted.
Aged 21 went to England where he was known as "Professor Vousden" Married an english girl, then set up their home in Dublin where he gained fame as a raconteur and entertainer.
Died March 1907 at his sons home, Bexhill - on - Sea, Sussex, England
