I am looking for Delphia Vowell, b. 1816 in VA. Married James W. Mize before 1840. Their children were Anderson, John Wesley, Sarah Jane (my great-great-grandmother), America Gunnells, Georgia Ann (America and Georgia were twins), and James W.

I've also found that (although, I've done the ultimate "mistake", I don't know where I got the information. Again, I haven't been able to track it with documents, and I'm still not sure that "Jackson" is the same as my "Albert Daniel Jackson", but if the "Jackson" that I've seen, I believe on a census record, is the same, his father was John Lewis Vowell, and his birth place was Guilford County, in North Carolina. This is all that I've found on the internet, and am going to continue to try to find verifiable documents to assure the accuracy. I'm still working on official documents for my grand parents, so I'm not quite that far along. I do have a death certificate for Albert D.J. Vowell, that I found on the Missouri website. It states that he died on April 6, 1931, of Pneumonia caused by influenza, He had lived in I think it says Lebo, Howell Cnty, MO for 35 years, he was a farmer, and it also verifies that he was born in Tenn. and his mother's name was Patricia White, also born in Tenn (as long as my grandfather knew Patricia's birth for sure, as he signed the death certificate and reporting party).

WALCOTT, Iowa -- William W. Vowell, 74, Walcott, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at his home.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday at National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill. Due to security on the Arsenal Island, anyone wishing to attend the graveside services should meet at 10 a.m. at the Vowell home at 116 Century St., Walcott. The Rev. Dennis Burton will officiate.

The Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Vowell was born on Nov. 28, 1928, in Rush Springs, Okla., the son of Robert and Celesta Curtis Vowell. He was raised by his mother and stepfather Gordon Tedder. He married Sarah K. Boshell on July 22, 1971, in Galesburg, Ill.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was employed as a mechanical engineer at Alcoa, retiring in 1991.

He was one of 100 people involved in the development of materials for Apollo 11. He assisted in the development of the monster coal mining shovel in Marion, Ohio and AMTRAK train for Westinghouse in Pittsburg, Pa.

He was a 32nd degree mason with the Davenport Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Walcott American Legion and the Davenport Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Deborah Warren and her husband, Randy, of Norman, Okla., Karen Vowell of Columbus, Ohio, Katrina Masakowski and her husband, Mark, of Davenport; two sons, Gordon Vowell and his wife, Deborah, of Shawnee, Okla. and Staff Sgt. Wheeler 'Allen' Vowell and his wife, Kris, of Mons, Belgium; two stepdaughters, Ramona Littell and her husband, Bob, of Cardington, Ohio and Linda LeBlanc of Marengo, Ohio; and three adopted children, Pam Hogstad and her husband, Tony, of Duncan, Okla., Beverly Cass and Barbara Stillwell and her husband, Jeff, all of Oklahoma City; a sister, Joyce Knapp and her husband, Gene, of Austin, Texas; a brother, Donnie Tedder and his wife, Elizabeth, of Duncan, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sandra Boshell Scott of Sulligent, Ala.; and a special nephew, Richard Boshell of Bettendorf.

He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; his stepfather; a stepson, Larry Blunk; and a brother, Robert Vowell.

Hi; I am researching my mother's family. Her father was James Lafayette (Fate) VOWELL, and I think he was born in Newburg, AR, and I believe his father was born in TN (I think I've seen that on a census report), although I'm not sure whether the "Jackson" VOWELL, on the census for a John Lewis VOWELL, is the same Albert Daniel Jackson VOWELL that was my g-grandfather. Does any of these names mean anything to what you have in your family line?

I believe your right about Jack being Jett's father. I believe that Jack's full name was Albert Daniel Jackson Vowell. I haven't gotten my information verified with documents, yet, but he also had another son James Lafayette VOWELL b Apr 8, 1879, Newburg, AR, d Jul 15, 1968. They called him "Fate", he was my mother's father, so Jett would be my great uncle. Jett and Jackson are both buried in McElmurry Cemetery in Moody, MO. Let me know what holes I've left, but it's pretty probable that the holes are cause I don't know. I'm pretty novice at the research part. I live close enough to West Plains that I am going to go up there and do some serious research, though.

I am looking for any information about James Lafayette Vowell, his children, Ruth Ellen, Ada Marie, and Edith Maxine. Edith was my mother. I would like to know when they moved from Howell County, Mo. to Mannford, Ok. and possibly whether the merchantile was the only reason, and what made them choose Mannford, Ok. Any history prior to that, his father's name was Albert Daniel Jackson Vowell, born in Weakley County, TN (I believe). I could use James' mother, not sure about who she was.

Recently while in NC I made a notation while in Granville NC courthouse: "Wm R Vowel & Rachel Frazier, 6 Sept 1786, John Findal bm, Robert Searcy wit" Now I see multiple postings that Rachel Frazier married one Obediah Vowell. I certainly want my records accurate. I descend from Ann Vowell who was married to William Hendrick. They had 8 children and lived at least part of their adult lives in Mecklenburg Co VA. Ann Vowell was likely born abt 1750-5. She had a brother, William Vowell, and sister Betty (married Eusabious Stone), Sally L (married Matthew Carter) and Mary (married Christopher Bailey). Jewell L. Johnson, 86, passed away on February 15, 2008, at 2:50 a.m. She was born in Temple, Oklahoma on December 26, 1921 and had lived in Pomona Since 1946. She was a retired Credit Union Manager. Survivors include one sister, Hazel Wilson of Heryetta, Oklahoma, two brothers, Frank Vowell of Van Buren, Arkansas, Everett Vowell of Tyler, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Church of Christ on Vinton Ave., in Pomona Viewing is Tuesday, February 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Todd Memorial Chapel at 570 N. Garey Ave., Pomona. Graveside services to be held Wednesday, February 20,2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Pomona Cemetary, 502 E. Franklin Av e., Pomona.

I am in no way related to Manpage Vowell, but am trying to find some information on some property that he sold to my ancestor Thomas Toberry in Anderson County, TN in March of 1804. I am looking for the location if possible and if this was originally surveyed for Manpage or was bounty lands. We are trying to prove lineage and hopefully we can trace descendancy thru inherited land records.

I've just started looking into the Vowell family. My mother, Annie, was a Vowell. Her brother, Sidney, lived in Kosciusko with his wife and two children (Virginia (Gin) and Ronnie). All have passed away except Gin who now lives in Jackson. Did you know of these Vowels? Thanks.

I can tell you what I have heard from family history. My grandfather is Millard Vowell. I have researched down the line and Malachi Vowell is the father of Obediah Vowell.

I saw your site. My grandfather is Millard Vowell. His parents were Valentine Vowell and Sarah Jane Brezeale. There is a family tree on this site but they didn't have sarah jane brezeale. My grandfathers grandparents were obediah vowell and rachel frazier.

Valentine is buried in an open corn field in Hinze community, Winston Co, Ms. the cemetery is fenced in. some of his children are buried there as well. If memory serves me right Quille is too. I had a lot of info on him & his family but my pc crashed right before Katrina hit here on coast & I have not gotten back to inputting ny stuff again. He is kin to me. My grandfather was James Leander Vowell son of the 1st Valentine vowell. I believe your valentines father was Vincent vowell. Vincent was my great granmother Malvina Vowell Father, making the younger valentine her brother. but am not for sure on this. you should look at some of the older posted mail & get in touch with Carla Vowell.
