Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a name problem. My 4th Greatgrandfather was James Vrendenburgh VanGorden, and he was married to Elizabeth. He was born about 1756, and they resided in Pahaquarry, N.J.They were married in 1786. Now the problem I have is with his name, Was he a Vrendenburgh or a Van Gorden? After their marriage he stictly used just James Van Gorden, however on his Revolutionary war pension it states on the index card James Vrendenburgh VanGorden alias James VanGorden. Now I know there was a William Vrendenburgh VanGorden born by Port Jervis in th 1730's, and was wondering if there was a connection to him seeing they did their names the same way. Any info would be appreciated. I have been trying to figure this out for awhile. Thanks. Dan
