Thank you for the wonderful information. But I feel so left out. Your Generation No. 3; 7. Leah Barrett m: George Slonaker; iv: Elizabeth J Slonaker m: Steward Castner.

Very true that Elizabeth J Slonaker m: Steward Castner, but this was her second husband, and they had a son Sammy. Elizabeth's first husband was George W Carlyle. If you notice on the 1900 US census Elizabeth states she had 9 children and 6 alive. 8 of the children were Carlyle's, and Sammie was a Castner.

Also note that Elizabeth J Slonaker's sister, Julia A Slonaker married George W Carlyle's brother, Charles Carlyle.

1860 US Census shows Geo & Elizabeth Carlyle with son Isaac NW (2 yrs); Julia A Slonaker and her 1 year old daughter Sarah E.

1880 US Census shows Elizabeth now married to Steward Castner and showing son Geo W Castner (10); son Calvin Castner(7); son Samuel T Castner. Both Geo W and Calvin are Carlyle's not Castners. Elizabeth and Steward did not get married until 1876. Son Geo W was born 1870 and Calvin (birth name Richard Calvin) was born 1873. Richard Calvin Carlyle is my Great Grandfather and his death certificate shows him born in Dillon Run, WV.

My father and Uncle spent much time visiting their grandmother (Elizabeth Slonaker Carlyle Castner) at her home in New Sharon, Iowa.

Down any one know why Eliabeth is only acknowledged as marring Castner, and all the Carlyle's are left out? Some of the Carlyle boys born to Elizabeth are: Charles A; Taylor Edward; Issac Newton; Walter; George W; and Richard Calvin. . .

Would appreciate any information available about the Carlyle/Slonaker portion of this family.
