William Waddle (VA Rev War soldier) moved to SC

In my family cemetery is buried William and wife Hannah and 3 daughters. I know he was in the artillery in Rev War from VA, maybe even from Continental line.
I would really like to learn what I can about him and his family and ancestors. I have some very, very disconnected other Waddles who were probably his children or at most, grandchildren.
Help will be greatly appreciated
Carl Garrison

Hello Rodney,

I can't find a tie-in to the WADDLE/WADDELL families in our Germanna Tree at Ancestry without some specific information.

I found a Blair WADDLE in several other databases at Ancestry, whose parents were Thomas W. WADDLE, Jr. and Nancy PURITT. Blair's wife was Sarah WRIGHT. Blair was born sometime between 1872 and 1875 according to the various databases. One gives him a definite birth date of 14 Sep 1875, Floyd Co., KY.

Is this your family?

Would like to see some definite dates, places, spouses, children, etc. The information you provided is so slim it's impossible to do much with it.

The WADDLE/WADDELL families we are related to went by WADDLE in Virginia and became WADDELL in Tennessee. This line came from Germany where their name was WEDEL.

Sarge,
George W. Durman
GermannaResearch@comcast.net

(Admin of the WADDLE Message Board at Rootsweb.)
This is a follow up to an old post (2011). You indicated you were the gg granddaughter of Delia Bishop, etc. Can you post information the basics about here, birth, death, burial, etc. I would also like to know if her father's full name was Thomas Jackson Bishop. Delia was married to a John Nicewaner. Do you know if he was ever married to anyone else, like, say, Christina Bidstrup, her half sister?

I am looking for information on Nancy May Waddle B: Jul 1891 in Arkansas and D: 15 Mar 1925 in Arkansas.

She shows up with David and Ellen F Waddel as her parents on the a 1900 Census living in Cargile, Van Buren, Arkansas.

Nancy May Waddle who is 8 years old as of that 1900 Census is my husbands grandmother.

Nancy married Samuel A. Pettie in 1907 when she was only 16 years old and was widowed before 1910 when she shows up on a census with her parents as David and Anne Waddle. Then she marries John Riley Sims in 1911 who was widowed from Rebecca Dryer (Sims).

When Nancy May Waddle married John Riley Sims their daughter Nettie Blanche Sims (Martin) is my husbands mother.

We have very little information on this family and would appreciate as leads. In 1814 he removed to Washington and two years later engaged in the mercantile business, continuing in the same till his death, which occurred in 1828. In 1814 he purchased seven lots in the town of Washington, for which he paid in cash $10,000. After his death the property did not realize $1,000 outside of the dower set aside for his widow.
Re: Peter Waddle of Pulaski Co., KY DNA

Kathy,

It has now been another year and yes there has been an interesting development. One family’s brick wall has now fallen showing the benefit of DNA testing. Three descendants of David Waddle Sr. and his wife Keziah DeHart got their DNA tested as shown on the Waddell DNA Project site:

http://tinyurl.com/7hdkxcn

The tests, W-53 and W-52 show the most distant ancestor as David Larkyn. This David was a son of David Sr. and Keziah. The most distant ancestor Martin Waddle, WX-4, was an apparent son of Abraham Waddle, a newly identified younger son of David Sr. and Keziah. These DNA records match the DNA of a descendent of Peter Waddle, son of Johannes Wedel. This shows David Sr. is genetically related to the Wedel family.

Back in 2006 Bobbi Everett, in her search for the ancestor of her John B. Waddle, called to my attention that a David Waddle occurs in the records of Sullivan Co., TN. He seemed to be associated there with Martin Waddle and Henry Mauk, but we couldn’t make a definite assignment because he dropped from the records. I suggested at that time that he was likely a son of Johannes Wedel. The DNA records and further research seem to confirm that conclusion.

I have updated my WorldConnect site on the Johannes Wedel family to show this new information and have included some other new information:

http://tinyurl.com/6rgtjqb

Bob Dickinson
There are at least two Waddle families in Ross and Fayette Counties in Southern Ohio. One family came directly from Belfast, Ireland. The other came from Maryland via Kentucky. A lot of Ross and Fayette residents arrived via the Ohio river. I have been researching Beard and Baird and there was a Francis Waddle who married a Mary Jane Beard. There is also a Samuel Waddle from Kentucky, who married a widow, Eliz. McLain. I have wondered if this was not a second marriage for him, since there was a Nellie Waddle who joined the Presbyterian church in Ross County and there was a Samuel Waddle who married an Eleanor Baird in Fleming County, KY. There is a David Beard who died in Fayette, Oh in 1820, leaving a son, Evan. Evan later settled in St. Clair, IL and gave his place of birth as Fleming, KY. There were a lot of Samuel Waddles in Ohio, so that is also a tough one!

I wish I could answer that question. I know from history books that David Waddle arrived in Southern Illinois in 1787 with a party lead by James Lemon. That party started out from Wheeling (W)Virginia and came down the Ohio River. Where these Waddles came from has eluded me so far. I was hoping that DNA would solve it but the last male Waddell from my line passed a couple months ago without leaving a sample.
Sorry I can't help more.

Steve

Robert Wilce Waddle Married Abbie H probably in Arkansas in 1894. She died in 1909. No record of a divorce. Do not know of any issue, but have not pursued that angle. In 1898 there was a shortlived marriage to Minnie Mabel Eggers, producing one child, Harry A. Waddle, in Neosho, MO. Divorced in May of 1899 in Neosho. Then he appears in 1900 census, again with Abbie H. in Thurston County, WA. She died there. Next, he married Estella Jane Pagot, a Canadian, in Centralia, WA in 1911. One child, Robert Charles born 10/29/11. This Robert was born 12/6/1859 in Milton, Cabel County, Virginia (now W. Virginia) Son of Thomas W. Waddle and Nancy Pruitt. He was the fourth of 12 children. Is this the Robert you are asking about? Linda Waddell Brian

Most of my known relatives are from Ittawamba Co., MS and several of my ancestors are buried in Salem Cemetery. My older brother, Charles Waddle is the last of my particular family line that goes back to M.T. Waddle and W.O. Waddle also buried in Salem Cemetery, but my memory fails to recall the exact order they come in. If you come from any Waddles in North, MS, then we are almost certainly related.

Re: Waddle-Bishop Connection

I am a descendant of Lavina (Waddle) Bidstrup Bishop
(she was my gg grandmother). After Christian Ludwig
Bidstrup died, she married Jackson Bishop, they had several children, of which Delia Jordena Bishop, was my great grandmother. Have been searching the internet lately and
rootsweb has a lot of new (and free) info and access to 1850 census where Jackson and Lavina are listed in Missouri, USA.

I just ran across your message and don't know if you've found more over the last years.

Please feel free to email me and I'll happily share any info I have.

It's been a little more than a year, so I thought I would check in again. That site has grown since I last checked it out! I see Haplogroup J for John B. Waddle and a couple of Waddell gentlemen. Whereas Hans Georg Wedel is R1b1a2. Are there any new thoughts or discoveries on the John B. Waddle ancestry?

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/waddell/results
