I've been searching for 15 years and have been unable to find information on my great grandfather's side of the family. I would love any help! His name was Karl Friedrich Waeldin (Waldin). He was born 2 Jun 1907 in Germany. He died on May 20, 1964. He was married to Hedwig Gertrude Wettstein. They had one child, my grandmother Sigrid Rita Waeldin on 14 Nov 1936. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Waeldin connections (US Kansas and New York and Alsace Lorraine)

Hi, my great grandmother was Bertha Waeldin of Brooklyn, born 11 Mar 1887. Her father was Ernest Waeldin, born 1851 in Gruenstadt, Bad Durkheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. I am fairly sure he is related to Frederick Waeldin (see Carrie Waeldin post on this board), and Ernest's father was Carl Waeldin, and his mother was Charlotte Brion, born 1825.

In one of the census records, Ernest's parents are noted as being from Alsace Lorraine (Germany/France depending on the year).

I know that Ernest worked as an importer for a cutlery company in New York (company called E. E. Waeldin). There is another Waeldin family in New York at this time (late 1800 and early 1900s) headed by August Waeldin, who is a saloonkeeper.

Ernest's son, Henry Ernest Waeldin, moved to Kansas, and married Carrie Shafer, had 2 sons, one of whom died during WWII. It sounds like Carrie's aunt Doris must be related in some way to this family...

I have a site with more information and connections if you'd like to share more info? let me know. I can be reached via Ancestry.com. I also have some Waeldin family member photos...

There are only 5 people who actually have the Waeldin name in the US according to all the searches I've ever done. It would be interesting to find other ancestors. My aunt Doris Waeldin is the oldest, and lives in Kansas.
