I am looking for the parents of my gggreatgrandfather, William B. Barse. References to him come in Olean and also Adrian, Lenawee, MI. He is related to Claudius V.B. Barse and George Randolph Barse. After research for a long time in all the usual areas without finding proof, I am turning to y'all in the hope that someone may have an answer to this puzzle.

William B. Barse (b. @ 1824-?) m. Rebecca Pixley (b. @ 1824 d. 6/9/1895, NY, NY)

s. John Frederick Barse (b. 1849 d. 10/28/1916, Monmouth Co., NJ) m. Adelaide Elizabeth King (b. 1854, MI d. 1918, NY, NY)

d. Susan Belle Barse (b. 8/23/1875, Adrian, Lenawee, MI d. 1935, Pinellas, FL) m. Warren Hastings Miller (b. 8/21/1876, Honesdale, Wayne Co., PA d. 7/14/1960, Melbourne, Brevard Co., FL)

I believe that William B. Barse is a brother to Claudius V.B. Barse (b. 12/11/1817, Manchester, Ontario Co., NY d. 1885, Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY) because CVB's son, Mills Wagner Barse (b. 12/6/1846) lived in California in the 1930s with my greatuncle Barse Miller (b. 1/24/1904 d. 1/1973) and family and the relationship was "cousin." Also, William B. lived in Olean at the same time as CVB, and moved at the same time to Adrian, Lenawee, MI as when business prospects in Adrian were undertaken by CVB and son. CVB had a son, William *C.* Barse who had died by the time CVB had articles written about him in Olean.

This week I discovered that CVB's parents are John Barse (b. 1784, NY d. ?) and Betsey Barse (nee ?) (b. 4/13/1788, NY d. 4/27/1861, Olean, Cattaraugus, NY). They lived in Farmington Township, Ontario Co., NY in 1820; Milo Township, Yates Co., NY in 1840; and lived in Olean, Cattaraugus, NY.

John and Betsey Barse had 8 children. I have been able to identify for sure the 5 following:

CVB Barse m. Mary Wade
Teresa Barse Potter
Mary H. Barse Martin
Rebecca R. Barse Wagner (or Wagener)
Clara B. Barse Whitney

This leaves room for 3 unidentified siblings. I hope someone has information that William B. Barse is one of them. That it is a close connection is clear, because Susan's son used both the family names Mills and Wagner when naming his children.

They are also related in some unknown fashion to George Randolph Barse's family. I had written the connection off, despite his appearing on our family tree as John Frederick's father. This family is pretty well researched and I could find no such child to George Randolph Barse and Susan Peironnet, and J. Frederick had his parents Wm. B. and Rebecca, living with them in 1880. After being written off, however, I discovered a letter from my greatgrandfather (Warren Hastings Miller) to my grandmother, his daughter, writing about a visit they'd had from George Randolph Barse, Jr., in which they compared the faces of the two Susan Barses, noting the typical Barse facial characteristics and writing of him as family!!!

I would also like to know where the Wagners (Wageners) first entered the Barse family. Since CVB's son was named Mills Wagner Barse, the connection was closer than CVB's sister marrying a Wagner, I would think.

Can anyone help? I am tearing out my hair, genealogically speaking (g). Thanks. Allrelated
