This just happened to me recently so I'm still reeling from the effect of this "find" and whether it means anything or not. I decided to open up a box of belongings which my father (Lacey Clyde Wages) had left to me when he died and was given to my mother (Frances Dora Johnson Wages) and she gave it to me very shortly before her death. Inside of this small wooden box was a pair of very small wooden DUTCH shoes and a small brass sculpture of a DUTCH girl carrying a yoke over her shoulders with little water buckets dangling from small chains. Not only was I emotionally moved from the items he had chosen to leave to me there was the weird feeling that somehow he was sending a message. I was the only daughter of the three that had an interest in our heritage and had quizzed him even as a fourth grader as to our ethnic origins. I remember that Germany was one of those countries mentioned. Granted this is an emotional rather than hard data fact but never the less a question I will always wonder about.
