General Wagner Type Question??

Okay, this is for those of you who have some experience with this geneology gig.

I have one Peter Wagner--Born December 25, 1810. On FamilySearch.org I found a Pierre Wagner born on 12/25/1810 to Michel Wagner and Catherine Trinkaus in "Civil, Landstuhl, Pfalz, Bayern". Then I found a christening record for a Petrus Wagner on 12/26/1810--parents: Michaelis Wagner and Catharinae Trinkaus at "Roemisch-Katholische, Bann, Pfalz, Bayern". Now these obviously are the same people. This very well may be my Peter that I am looking for. Can anyone please clear up my ignorance on the name differences and how common was that? Or can anyone recommend a website for a beginner such as myself. and is there anyway to access the federal census records for free? Someone said that they are at most metro libraries. What other resources can one recommned that is available freely and/or are easily obtained at the libraries??

Thanks,
Rebekah

Celia A. Wagner, b.Mar 1871, dau of Peter/Catherine, lived Will Co., IL

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Miss Celia Wagner, taken on 18th birthday, March 13th”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in 1889, in Lemont (Cook Co.) IL, and she indeed appears to be 18 in the photo. Lemont is just inside the Cook Co. border, from Will Co.

I found Celia A. Wagner in the 1900 census for Joliet (Will Co.), with DOB March 1871. Daughter of Catherine, a widow. In 1880 census for Will Co., Peter Wagner (age 53) and Catherine (44) were parents of Celia, age 9 (born in 1871).

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Celia A. Wagner.

1871 Wagner Family Bible, Southern Indiana

In researching my fiancee's genealogy I have come across a very old Wagner Family Bible from 1871. The patriarch of the family appears to be Daniel Wagner b. 1805 who immigrated from Germany in 1825. My fiancee's great grandfather Ebbert Alonzo Albin b. 1872 married Mary Margdalene Mossler b. 1874, whose grandfather was Daniel Wagner.

The bible is in German. We cannot identify who is in the pictures in the back pages. Any help with this would be enormously appreciated. Also, there is a family info page written in German. If anyone can help translate it it would help us immensely.

I have scanned the most interesting pages as a PDF. It contains the first few pages and preface, new testament intro, last pages with pictures and info, and loose papers that were in the back of the bible. You can download the PDF from my web server at:

http://www.jimvajda.com/genealogy/Wagner_Family_Bible.pdf

Godfrey Wagner family, of Dodge Co., WI

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Christ Wagner’s family”, taken in Portage (Columbia Co.) WI, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in the early 1870s.

There are no other names on this photo of a mom and dad in their upper 20s., girls about 7 and 3, and a boy 5, with a baby (cannot tell gender), age about 1.

I did an extensive search for Christ Wagner in Wisconsin, to locate a family matching the above description. In 1880, Christ Wagner was age 5 months, but his parents and oldest four siblings match exactly to the list above. Father was Godfrey Wagner, age 51, wife Liza, age 45. Daughter, Mina, age 17. Son Fredrick, age 15. Daughters Ann, age 12 and Bertha, age 9. There were other siblings shown in the 1870 and 1880 censuses: Charles, William, Frank, Martha, George and Godfrey.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to this Wagner family.

Does anyone have any information on John Milton Wagner married Martha Hamilton. This John Milt second married Minerva Rabb and they raised a large family, including his two oldest daughters, Dolly and Matilda. Matilda was my great-grandmother and her death certificate says her mother was Martha Hamilton (b. Rowan County, KY). I can find NO evidence of John Milton being married to Martha Hamilton. In fact, I cannot find Martha Hamilton in Rowan County, Ky. Any information would be appreciated.

I picked up a photograph in an antique store in Claremore, OK. It was made in the photography studio of F. N. Hunton, Jasper, IN. On the back is written "Georg Wagner as a young man." He appears to be in his 20's or 30's and I would guess it was made sometime from 1900 to 1920. This is just a hobby of mine, picking up photos to see if I can match them up with their relatives.
