John E. Waibel
John E. "Jack" Waibel, 91, of Export, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2011, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette. He was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Johnstown, a son of the late George and Mary (Lewis) Waibel. Prior to retiring, Jack was employed for 40 years by the Elliott Company, Jeannette. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Export, and a member of the Elliott Company Golf League. Jack was an avid golfer and hunter and he enjoyed boating with his family and friends for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved infant son, Gary John Waibel; sister, Bertha Kottelich; and brother, Carl Waibel. John is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving family, his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen V. (Hajnosz) Waibel; their sons, Jay E. Waibel and Larry J. Waibel, both of Export; brother, Paul Waibel and his wife, Rose, of Pitcairn; stepbrother, George Waibel and his wife, Ruth, of Ohio; half brother, Norb Waibel, of Florida; half sister, Edna Waibel; and many nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his two grandchildren, Brandi and Jesse, both of whom he was very proud. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. A funeral Mass for Jack will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John Baptist de Ia Salle Catholic Church, 497 Athena Drive, Delmont, with Father Michael Sikon as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
