This is also my family and I'm trying to find leads as well (I know it has been 8 years since anyone posted here but maybe someone will see this and have some answers).

My ancestor is E (possibly Emelius) Stanley Wainwright, who came to the US in 1919, followed by his sisters Miriam, Deborah and I believe Emeline or Emmeline in the 20's (I havent found Emeline's immigration records but I've found the others)

My theory is that his grandfather may be Emelius Julius, and possibly his father is Emelius VanBuren but I'm missing a connection somwhere. E Stanley Wainwright would have been born around 1890 or 1891 in Trinidad.

This isn't really a query, but if anyone has any other information/ is interested in this famiy/ wants the info I have..

William Wainwright b. 1717- Wales, near Liverpool England, d. 1Nov1775, Wallingford CT USA - Fought in French and Indian War. M. Sabrina or Sabra Johnson b. 17Jan1720/21 in Wallingford, CT d. 1790 Wallingford, CT
Child: Jonathan Wainwright b.29Jul1754 Wallingford, CT d.5OCT1835 M. Lucy Bristol B.11 Sept or 10 Sept 1759 in CHeshire, CT D.15APR 1821
Child: Alfred Wainwright b.4APR 1790 d.12Apr1852 --
Statement from Alfred: "The ancestors on my father's side came to this country from Wales but were orginally from France. My grandfather, first in America died in Cheshire CT, in 1775 at the age of 68. He has three sons John, David, and Johnathan, my father. John was wild and gave his father and my father much trouble. He took up residence in Cornwall, VT Where he died at the age of 76, a respected man. He had three sons who went away to Philidelphia and New York and not only became respected, but very wealthy. David, John's brother, left Cheshire some years before John did and went to great Barrington Mass.- where he accumulated a Handsome fortune, raised up large family, represented that town in the General Assembly, and finally ended this life in 1831. The ancestors from my mother's side were from Bristol, England. My grandfather's name was Bristol. He was a landed man possessing handsome property, was blind many years before he died in 1790 at the age of 90 years. He had a number of children who were true patriots in the Revolution. One named Thomas was shot through the thigh from a boat near the Western shore of New Haven Harbor and was dragged by a Mr. Smith across the corn rows which barely affected his escape." David Wainwright mentioned above married Ruby Younglove.... Alfred Wainwright Married Clarissa Foote b.17 Feb 1782 D. 2apr1822 Plattsbury, NY
Child: Dr./Rv. Jonathan Allen Wainwright. b. 24 or 21 Oct1821 in Plattsbury, NY d. 15Nov1898 Was a MD and then Rev. M. Harriet Hayden of Torringford CT and had Child: Harriet Sophia Wainwright-- Harriet Hayden died a few years after marriage in 1853 and some years later he married Harriet's sister, Caroline Hayden also of Torringford, CT. They had a child "Kittie H." Soon after he was called to North Carolina where he was rector of St Phillips church at Fort Johnson and later St. John's of Wilmington. When the Civil war broke out he returned to the North and was comissioned as Chaplian for the 19th regiment of Ct Volunteers and then 2nd ct heavy artillery. At the close of the war he became rector of St Johns in Salisbury CT, remained for 8 years before becoming President of St. Pauls college in Palmyra Missouri. He resigned in 1874 and became headmaster of Wolfe Hall in Denver, Colorado. After one year in Denver he returned to his position at St. Pauls in Palmyra.

I have SO much more information than this on this family, from records and newspapers and photos personally kept and preserved by Harriet Sophia Wainwright Evans, past down through generations, and retained by a cousin of mine. I have digital copies I'm more than willing to share.

They had two sons, Edward b.1887 and Herbert b. 1890
Edward married but had no children
Herbert married Beatrice May Grace b. 1900 in Widnes and they had three daughters.
The Somerset Marriages lists a Benjamin I. Jones m. 1/2/1840 to a Bibby Jane Wainright. A Jane Elizabeth Bridget Wainwright is posted at the LDS website as being the daughter of Levin and Ester Wainwright.
The 1850 Princess Anne Census lists a Jane b. 1816 age 34 with Benjamin I. Jones age 66, Benjamin 1841, Mariah 1848 and John 1836.
The 1860 Princess Anne Census has two more names in this family that I can't read one born 1857 and the other 1858. John is not in the household for this census.
I'm interested in the other two names.

Hey, the WAINWRIGHT DNA PROJECT is finally yeilding some very interesting results!

The Wainwright DNA Project has only one testing from a male, whose surname is Wainwright, who descends from JAMES WAINWRIGHT OF PITT CO. NC [this branch is now extensively found in GA, FL, etc.]

We need more tests for this line. There is money in trust to pay for at least one of these simple cheek swab tests for this Pitt Co. line.

You must be male, whose surname is Wainwright in order to do this test. Although we are especially interested in the Pitt Co. line--any male Wainwright should give this some thought.

Contact me and I will pass the information on, or Jon Wainwright or Mark Lazarre, the Project Administrator.

JPark

The relationship noted here is not true. The error was obtained when a local Oak Harbor, Ohio newspaper reported the marriage of Alma Sabiers to a Wainwright. We concluded it was in error when we found that Alma Sabiers actually married William Charles Curtziler September 20, 1905. They had a son Francis C. Curtzwiler born March 6, 1906. Any knowledge of other descendants will be appreciated.
Ralph L Sabiers

There is a Joseph Wainwright in my family tree. Maybe he is related to your Charles, he is about the right age for a brother. His 10th child was named Charles then Charles had one son, William John Jackson Wainwright who emigrated to NZ where he married Eliza Edith Eagle in 1905.

JOSEPH WAINWRIGHT
was born in 1791.
In 1841 he was AN AGRICULTURAL LABOURER.
He was buried on 24 Apr 1851 in THE PRIORY CHURCH, WORKSOP.
He died in 1851 in COMMON SIDE, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

JOSEPH WAINWRIGHT and BRIDGET JACKSON
were married on 14 Oct 1812 in THE PRIORY CHURCH, WORKSOP.
Wain(w)rights in Cincinnati

I am the gg-grandaughter of Britton Wainright and Mary Elizabth Darby of Cincinnati, OH and New Albany, IN. I have quite a bit of information on the descendants of Britton. I was recently contacted by a 4th cousin and we are trying to document the Wainright family before Britton and Mary Elizabeth. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Kathy Reed

Wain(w)right in Cincinnati Update

Over the past few months, I've made a lot of progress on the descendants of William and Britton (his son) Wainright. Today I was able to get a copy of the burial record of "my" Wm. Wainwright who died in Athens, OH in 1853. With the help of a very helpful librarian from the Nelsonville Branch, I now have a record for Wm. being buried in the south Canaan Cemetery in Canaan Tsp. (outside of Athens). He is in a family plot with his daughter, Ann Eliza Broadwell and other family members. I also have quite a bit of source data for possible children of William. Let me know if I can be of help.

Kathy Reed

My paternal great grandmother was Martha Sabiers, who lived in Oak Harbor,Ohio, in Ottawa County. My grandmother told me about her aunt who lived in the home which we knew as the Wainwright home. Martha was born in Posen and came to the United States in, I believe, 1879. She married Edmund Kahlert. Alma probably would have been her niece. I know that there were relatives who owned a saloon, and I think the aunt's name was Aunt Mags.

Hi, my nannan Maggie Beeley has her mothers maiden name (on her birth certificate) as a Wainwright, Maggie was born in 1924 in Ecclesall Bierlow. I am having the devil of a time trying to track her family...I have a cousin who has taken the Beeley family back very very far and there was talk of a Warehouse possibly in Bradford and also talk of some spanish ancestry. I have telephoned Richard on 2 occassions requesting information, as of yet he has not gotten back to me. I think her mother may have been a Clara Wainwright and I am at the minute trying to get more information on that side of my tree....please feel free to contact me if you think we may be connected, my email is soniamilne32@hotmail.com I can at least (if we are connected) fill you in with all my bits :-)

Look forward to hearing from you in the near future,
Sonia Milne.
