Hi,
My Thomas Wakeham was ostracised for marrying a Catholic girl in Cork Ireland (Margaret Fitzgerald), where the Wakeham family were reputed to have a large property. They sent the naughty pair to Australia with a pension and suits of armour etc. These are my great great great grandparents.
I have their wedding at Cork, or reference to it, and her parents, but nothng of Thomas.
I'd love to peruse your tree to see if we are somehow related, and thanks for the offer,
Robyne

We have a Charlotte Jane Wakeham Davey (also sometimes Davy) born 1830 in Torpoint, Cornwall. She married John Stuckey around 1853. Her father: James Davey, mother Mary ? I suspect James Davey's parents were William Davey and Mary Wakeham m. 1807 Cornwall but have not confirmed this yet. I don't know if there is a connection with your Wakeham and Davey families, but think it possible.

Heather
I dont think I have any connection with any of the messages which have been posted, but I have a Richard Wakeham who was born in Modbury Devon in 1802. He married Ann Andrews in 1827 - children Richard who died very young, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ann and George He was transported to Tasmania Australia in 1843 as a convict. His family followed in 1849. He therefore of course died in Australia. I do not know Richard's parents and this is where I come to a screaming halt apart from the fact that I know his grandfather was Nicholas. I have a copy of a petition he wrote to try to get Richard released

Wakeham, Born in Devonport (1866 - ?)
•	William Lewis Wakeham, Born in Devonport (1870 - ?) married Sarah Elizabeth Foot or Bertha Ford December 1890
•	Anne Widdicombe Wakeham, Born in Devonport (1873 - ?), married Dec 1904
•	Bessie Wakeham, Born in Devonport (1875 - ?) married Richard Chisell or George Henry Pinhey June 1898 in Totnes or Henry Lobb or Thomas James Mead in March 1899
•	Nicholas George Wakeham, Born in Blackawton (1876 - ?) married Phoebe Preston Woodrow June 1897

What info do you have?

Cheers,

Hugh Wakeham

Re: Henry and Lucy Wakeham/England

I tried looking for Victor Ronald Wakeham in the UK BMDs for that period, and came up empty. That's interesting, as I tried various search parameters, and the period appears to have been fully transcribed. I even tried looking for his birth without specifying a year, and couldn't find a Victor Ronald Wakeham, or a Ronald Victor Wakeham. Or for that matter a Victor or Ronald Wakeham who would be old enough to marry in 1912.

Out of interest, I tried looking at the 1891 UK. I came up with only one Henry married to a Lucy. Here's the info: (RG12-1746, folio 31, pg 53)

Stoke Dameral, Devon
Henry Wakeham, aged 29, Royal Marine, born Stonehouse Devon
Lucy Wakeham, aged 24, born Brent Tor
Fred, age 6, born Stonehouse
Emma, age 4, born Stonehouse
Albert, age 1, born Devonport
Ida, 3 (or 8) months, born Devonport

There is a marriage for a Henry Wakeham, and a Lucy Cross, in the July qtr., 1883, District East Stonehouse, Devon
Vol 5b, pg 523

Doesn't fit the Victor Ronald request, but it was the only Henry living with a Lucy in that census that I can see.

It's not going to be an easy search....

I guess he just didn't like the name Fred. Sorry, but Fred and Lucy aren't part of my line. And actually, I'm equal parts inquisitive and nice:-)

Look, if you need any lookups let me know. I pretty much stopped at the 91 census, but could look up others if you don't have easy access.

Best,
Leigh-Ann
Hi Elaine,

Just found your message regarding the Wakeham family. Do you happen to have a Mr. Wakeham married to June/Jane Goddard about in the 1840-50's? Not positive of the christian name. I believe the Goddard's lived in Devon. The Goddard's are on my paternal side of the family. The above info regarding the marriage was in my late great aunt 's personal papers, but that is all I have.
Would really appreciate any help in any way.

Regards.
Joan

Searching for information on my great great grandfather Victor Ronald Wakeham. His parents according from his Nova Scotia Marriage Registration were Henry and Lucy Wakeham and apparently he was born in London or surrounding areas in 1885-86. Not sure if he has siblings or not but his father was deceased prior to his marriage in 1912.

thought you might like to know that I am a grandson of the Emma Wakeham (daughter of Lucy Cross and Henry Wakeham)that you kindly mentioned to Mary Bourdeau in May. Mary and I have been in touch. It now seems that the Cross line traces back through Cole and Spry to a Mary Vivian who apparently has a very long lineage back to Sir Ralph VyVyan born about 1157 - the Vivian/Vyvian/VyVyan family being long established Cornish landowners and hence well documented. Mary and I have been astonished at finding this connection. Even more so as an ancestral Vyvian marriage in the late 1200s to Catherine Pefrill Peverell ties to a line from William Peveril. q

Hello George, I am also descended from William Walter Wakeham and Lydia Martin. I don't have much on them at the moment, I believe I am descended through Nicholas, another son and brother to Thomas Martin Wakeham. Here is what I have on William: Starting with a Grandparent, John Wakeham 1744-1802 married Jane Davy, son Nicholas Wakeham 1765-?? married Jane Tozer, son William Wakham 1793-1859 married Mary Mitchel 1793-1866 son William Walter Wakeham 1844-?? married Lydia Martin 1823-1890 sons: Thomas Wakeham 1845-?? Nicholas Wakeham 1849-?? Edward John Wakeham 1846-??married Sara A unknown she was born in 1846. Edward and Sara A are my great grandparents.
William Wakham is spelled this way in the records.
William Walter and Lydia had also a daughter Mary Ann Wakeham 1847-??. Thomas Martin Wakeham married Sarah Grace Martin 1867-?? and emigrated to New Zealand. Thomas died in 1920. I can send you copies of the records I received if you wish. Hope this lot helps and is not a repeat of your info.

He later married Pheobe Ann Clark who was Eliza's sister. William & Eliza had a son named Silas.
Silas spelled his last name Wacome or Wakem.

Any information would be great.
thanks
