Hi Luke,

First let me ask you if you know where your John Walbert, b. 1799 was living in 1870. In 1870 at Livingston County, MO there was a John S. Walbert living with my G-G-Grandfather George Washington Johnson/Johnston. Are these two John's the same person?

Here is a couple of hand me down stories about George W. Johnson. See if you can make any connections here:

Grandma (Elizabeth A. (Wisdom) Johnson passed away at the age of 69 years. Aunt Tiney Brandham, Grandpa's sister, was married and later widowed. Her husband's name was Cullem. Their children were Amanda, Cheetum and Sherman. They originally lived in Louisville, Kentucky. Amanda was last heard of in Waco, TX. Sherman also lived in Waco. Cheetum was married and had one daughter. They were last heard of in Evansville, IN.

Here is another tidbit of the same line:

After Elizabeth passed away, George brought his sister, Timey Brandum, and her children to Missouri. Timey was a widow. She kept house for George.

In 1850 Adair County, Kentucky census it has a John S. Walbert, age 53 (b. 1797) b. in NC.

Mary Walbert 51 b. 1799 in VA.
R.M. Wisdom 24 female b. MO
S.R. Wisdom 23 female b. MO
Tima Walbert 15 female b. KY (I think this is the Timey above)
But she can't be George W. Johnson's sister. ??? But
I'm thinking maybe John's wife Mary is. George was
born in VA.
James M. Walbert 14 b. KY
M.E. Walbert female 12 b. KY
P.D. Cumpten male 6 b. KY

Here is another clue:

George Johnston had one brother, William that stayed in Kentucky. And two brothers who came to Missouri Isaac and David. Also a sister that was married to a Morris and he died. Then she married a Grissom. After Grandma passed away, Grandpa brought Tiney Brandham, another sister, and her children to stay and keep house for him. She was a widow.

Now the David Johnston/Johnston was married to Jennetta Walbert. Now where does Jennetta fall in with the Walberts.

As you can see, there are a lot of names that are similar to what you have.

Does this information tie our two families together. Please let me know.

Thanks
Fred
