I'm looking for information on the family (sibs & parents) of Leslie Burgess Bellamy, b. 12 Sep 1908 in Wales; d. Jan 1962 in Michigan (probably Detroit). He immigrated to Canada, then to the US in 1929. He married Gwyneth Elizabeth Jones in 1935.

According to family lore, there may have been 12 children, 3 of which might have died when kids. Some of the siblings names might have been: Flossie or Floss, Helen, Lena, Alice, Lucy. Leslie was probably the youngest. The next youngest boy was 19 years older than Leslie. Leslie's dad died when he was about 44 and his grandma remarried a man named Jones, who also died when he was 44.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have posted this information on other boards but for those who have not seen it try connecting to the site below there are four Wales in total who were at the Indian Mutiny at the siege of Dehli and received medals. One is my GGF the others appear to come from Eastern England.
http://users.rootsweb.com/~indwgw/MutinyW1.htm
Another piece of useless information is that Mr Wales was the Astronomer with Captain James Cook on the Endeavour in the Pacific and he wrote his own diary. Check South Island of New Zealand -Dusky Inlet, Mt Wales was named by him. Not one of my ancestors but he would be related to someone!!!
Finally there is a village called Wales next to Sheffield UK
So happy hunting.

I recently found an abstract of title for a real estate parcel my great aunt owned in Brookfield. The abstract has detailed information of various owners of the property including Gideon Wales when he purchased the land in 1846. The abstract is dated 1941, but follows ownership of the land by Wales family members from the time Gideon bought the land. There's a lot of family information in this document. I'd be glad to share info from the abstract.

I am trying to research out the family history of
my husband. His family is from the Buffalo,
New York area. Around the time of World War I
the name was changed. I am not sure if the last name
was Woehl, Wohl, or Woahls. But it was changed to
Wale. I am not sure if it was done in the US or
Canada. Then later on it was changed to Wales.
I am not sure if Charles Wales (perhaps Wale)
changed the last name to Wales or if it was Vincent
Eugene Wales changed it. Any information would
be greatly appericated. I can be contacted at
ahley@bellsouth.net. Thank you.

He was about 70 years old and had been in Montana a number of years. During his illness he was nursed and cared for by charitable Methodists, of which church communion he was a member.
Wales in Tennessee/Alabama

HELP! I hope someone can help with my Wales'. I'm at at wall I don't think I'll ever get over. My Wales' were in Lincoln County and Giles County Tennessee, I have found them as a definite back to 1870. My line is Alvin Thomas Wales, Lee Roy Wales, John Wales--aka Dink. This is all I have as definites. According to census John had a brother "B" but I do not know what that may stand for. Lee had brothers William, John Jr., and an "R" do not know what that stands for either. I believe he also had at least one sister that married a Freeman due to the fact that there is a George Freeman listed as a grandson living with John on the 1900 census in Giles County. At one of the places they lived in Giles county some items are listed in Limestone County, Alabama. Also, I can not find Lee's death in Alabama or Tennessee. I have conflicting years of his death so I am not sure when it was. Is any one out there searching the same Wales line? Hope someone can help.

Jennifer

Frank Wales m. Sarah Jane Kaley, 1870 -- Swanton, OH

I am trying to fill in a little more detail on the family of Frank & Sarah Jane (Kaley) Wales of Swanton, Ohio. From the 1880 census, I know they had 3 children -- Allen (1872), Dewey (1876) and Edward (1879). From the 1900 census, I have added 6 more children born to this couple -- Orpha (10/1881), Artie (6/1883), Robbie (2/1887), Ralph (12/1890), Willie (8/1892) and Frank (3/1896).

I have located some of these children in the Swanton Cemetery (along with their parents), but have nothing more on the others. Dewey Austin Wales was born 5/30/1876, died 2/5/1971; Orpha Wales married Lew Kennedy and both are buried in Swanton Cemetery with Orpha born in 1881 and died in 1975 (Lew born 1875, died 1932); Robert Wales is listed as dying 6/21/1957; and Ralph Wales is listed as born in 1890 and died in 1912.

If anyone can help fill in anything else (death dates, spouse names, marriage dates, children), I would greatly appreciate it.

-- Denise

I am looking for any information on Henry Wales
Date of Birth about 1849 in either New York
Or Mass.

He is my great grandfather and left as an orphan
in New York City. What I am really looking for
is his wife(?)She was an American Indian but can
not find her name anyplace. All the pictures
I have of my Great Grandfather and Grandfather
and siblings are taken with her.

Can anyone help? Thank you very much.
INFO. My great grandfather is buried in Colfax
California with 2 women on either side, but according
to a great aunt, that died in the late 1970's
they were not my great grandmother. According
to her and my father these ladies were just friends?
to my great grandfather. Also I think womenizing is
typical for some Wales men. It sure shows in
my side of the family.

Thanks for all the help
Dale Marcella Wales-Magraw

I am a descendant of an Eleazer Wales but am having difficulty figuring out if this is the same Eleazer(b.1794) that is the son of Eleazer (b. 1755) and Mary Whiting. I have no parent or spouse information on him. The only information that I have about him is that he is the father of Clarissa Ann Wales Thompson who was born most likely in Milwaukee, WI in 1839. He was listed as a Wisconsin pioneer in an 1892 History of Juneau County Wisconsin and I have found him being listed as on of the founders and teachers in a school in Hustisford, WI. Any information on how he fits into the Wales family would be greatly appreciated.

Her mother's name was Jane Thompson, who possibly came from Renfrewshire or Ayrshire, although they lived in Glagow. Nobody seems to know where the Wales comes from. Any ideas?

Apart from me(in Australia) they are all in UK.
For complete trivia - a total of four Wales received medals in the Siege of Dehli one was my GGF. Also Captain Cook's Astronomer on his voyages was a Wales.
