Robert Henry Walker, Jr. of Sun Lakes passed away on Oct. 8, 2005 in Tempe, Arizona. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 30, 1933. Bob attended school in East Grand Rapids, Michigan and was graduated in 1952 from East Grand Rapids High School, where he played football and golf. He was a student at Grand Rapids Junior College and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1956. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and remained an avid U of M sports fan.
On June 23, 1956 he was married to Nancy Eliason, also of Grand Rapids. He was employed by American Seating Co. and Glidden Paint Co. and in the 1960s became involved in resort land development which took him and his family to Illinois, California, Ohio and finally to Scottsdale, Arizona where we worked for Arizona Land and Cattle and the Angel Fire Corp. In the early 80s he was a co-founder and officer of Concord Servicing Corp., retiring in 1998.
After retirement in Sun Lakes, Arizona, Bob enjoyed playing golf with several senior men’s groups. He also enjoyed watercolor painting and spent many happy hours at his easel and painting with friends. Bob particularly appreciated contact over the years with his high school friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Walker, Sr. and Mildred Gruver Walker of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a son, Matthew E. Walker and a daughter, Kathryn E. Walker, of Arizona and his sister Sally Walker Schaefer of Sparta, Michigan. Bob is survived by wife Nancy E. Walker; son Robert H. Walker III and wife Kimberlee Paty Walker of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons Robert H. Walker IV of Phoenix and Ryne E. Walker of Mesa, AZ ; niece Kristen Johnsen of Sparta, MI and nephews John A. Schaefer, Jr. and Mark T. Schaefer of Grand Rapids, MI.
There was cremation. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 15, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Valley of the Sun Mortuary; 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ 8524
