My grandfather was called John Leon La Walla, sometimes shortened to Walla. He was born in Ontario canada about 1901 and lived in Hamilton. He migrated to Australia(I think he spent some time in California,India and Borneo first) in the 1920's. He married Gracia Mary Couper and had two children, one of whom is my mother.He died in the second world war. Apparently his mother was called Norah and she may have been from the Isle of Wight and he had a sister who may have migrated to the USII can find no trace of his family-not one trace.If anyone thinks they have any connections, no matter how vague, I would love to hear from them. So would my mum, as her father died when she was young and she has never known anything about her father's side.
