Blanche and Louis had 5 kids....Blanche, Beatrice,Bertha, Louis, and Gilbert. My grandmother was Bertha. I also knew her brother Louis. He did leather work and owned Whitey's Saddlery out in Selden L.I. for many years. Both are gone now. Bertha is buried on Long Island in Greenfield cemetery in Uniondale. Her name was Bertha Tague. She had 11 children. My Mom was #3. Four of them are still living. The 2 youngest are on Long Island. That is where I grew up. I am living in Florida now, but am moving to Indiana in a week. I am also 55. I have information about where the kids were after Blanche died. Bertha and Beatrice were in the Sheltering Arms Nursery and Blanche and the boys were in the Brooklyn Industrial Home. When Louis remarried (to Margaret) they then went back home to live. I have some info, most of which came through census and naturalization papers. I have Blanche Wallin's death certificate. Feel free to use my e-mail directly, which is janlord48@excite.com. Take care,
Janet

Frederick Wallin and Jane Proctor were my great great grandparents. Blanche Wallin (married name, Blanche Nelson)was my great grandmother. She married Louis Nelson from Norway and lived in Brooklyn, NY. They had four children --Beatrice, Louis, Gilbert and Blanche. Blanche was my grandmother. Blanche Nelson (nee Wallin) died in childbirth at the age of 29.

From the stories I heard from my grandmother, Jane Proctor Wallin lived until the mid 1930s.

This is the maternal side of my family. I am 55 years old and unfortunately all the people who could have answered any questions are deceased.

I did a search years ago on the NY City Census records from 1890 and I have Frederick, Jane and Blanche living in Manhattan. They had Frederick listed as an engineer and Jane as a homemaker.

I assume you are in the UK. I live in the New York City area on Long Island. I will do some investigating and try to find out more information.

I guess we are cousins!

A question about the Wallin name

My great grandfather, Nicholas Wallin, was born in Sweden about 1864 and emigrated to the US about 1887.

My question: is the name Wallin very common in Sweden (e.g., like a Smith or Jones in the United States) or is it fairly uncommon.

I just found the following record that seems to be promising, but thought it would be helpful to know if this is a fairly unique surname or a very common one:

Emigranten Populär, 1783-1951 Swedish Emigration Records, 1783-1951
about N O Wallin
Name: N O Wallin
Birth Year: abt 1865
Gender: Man (Male)
Place of Origin: Skog Gävleborg Län, Sverige
Destination: New York
Record Date: 24 jun 1887
Port of Departure: Göteborg
Database Name: EmiHamn
Archive Call Number: 32:373:736
Principal Person: Wallin N O

Everthing you want to know about the Wallins here is at the LaFayette Library. Helen Wallin was my grandmother. The geneology room there at the library is named after a Wallin decendent. Her work on the Wallin line is on file there and clearly shows how all the Wallins in Walker County tie together. And they all come from one of the frist settlers of Walker County named Jesse Wallin.

Hi, Not sure if you are even still monitoring this post due to the length of time it has gone with no replies. If you are... my grandmothers last name was Wallin and she was Aleut Indian. She was born in Chignik, Alaska but later lived in Kodiak. She had many siblings. Off the top of my head there was John, Iver, Clara, Minnie, Eleanor, and George. She was Agnes. Her mom was, I believe, Clara(I only knew her as grandma) and I know her mom had a twin named Anna. I could be wrong, but I think her fathers name was William? Let me know if any of this is familiar to you as you could be family I'm looking for also.

Thank-you,
Melody Alvarado

Would really like to have documented information regarding Ralph and his children. Did he or did he not make the trip to the colonies with any other relatives besides his wife?

I have seen info about Ralph, his brother Richard and another brother Thomas all coming to the colonies. To put it bluntly I am getting so-o-o-o confused.

Thank you in advance for sharing documentation. I have the book "Elisha Wallen, the Longhunter" but am still confused.

Lafayette is the county seat of Walker County, so the Lafayette Wallins are Walker County Wallins. I can't imagine that all the Wallins in Walker Co. aren't related in some way. I know there are a lot of them. I want to get back up there and visit the courthouse and all the graveyards. I think there is even a Wallin graveyard.

I am looking for descendants of David Jackson Wallin. He served as 1st Lt. in company I, 8th KY Cavalry (Confederate) but is listed as David Jackson Walden in the records. He was a physician in Bracken County, KY and died in April 1924 in Bracken County, KY. From my search I know he had one son named Corlis Wallin.

D. J. Mo
an earlier census shows them having a son Samuel I.D. who had left home to help on another farm when this census was taken. These people are my family. I have correspondence to prove it.
Here's my brick wall! There is another James Franklin Wallin, age 49, b. Tn. surveyor, with wife Ann Elizabeth b. Tn. age 44, listed in the 1880 Census of Rockcastle, Ky. with children William, Alice, Robert, Arthur, Franklin L., Charles, Egbert, Catharine, Jacob and Walter.
I did find a marriage record for a A. E. McKeehan to James F. Wallin on Jan, 7, 1856 in Claiborne Tn. This time frame could apply to either family. Both James' list birth place as Tn. , mothers born tn. and fathers born tn.
The missouri Elizabeth was b. tn, father b. Va. mother b. Tn.
The Ky Elizabeth was b. Tn, father B. tn, mother b. Va.
I have searched for a death record on Elizabeth and James of Mo. but to no avail. My question is, which James F. Wallin/Wallen was the son of James B. Wallin and Frances Hamblin? If you have a solid source that would clear this up for me, I would be truly grateful!

Re: Looking for the ""Wallin/Kingsborough" Family

Hello,
I am Walter Dimmon (two m's) Kingsborough. I would be very interested in the Kier family. I only recently learned the name of Dimmon Dorsey's wife, my Great Grandmother. I know all there is to know about Iva Jeanne Wallin, Donald George Kingsborough and their kids. After all, I am one of them :)

Drop me a line at wkingsborough@gmail.com. Here is a link to a chart of Kingsboroughs as I know them, to date. - http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2645/kingsboroughtreepi4.... -

It is (was) Larry 'Donald' Kingsborough. Unfortunately he died of Leukemia in 1994. Gary Wallin Kingsborough was struck while riding his bike at the age of 11 in 1969. The rest of us are doing fine. Don and Jeanne now have 12 grandchildren.

I look forward to hearing from you. I hope the thread is not too old.

Wally Kingsborough
Huntsville, TX

Frederick Wallin
Fred Wallin was my great-great grandfather. He was born on Mar 31 1842 in Vasteras, Vastmanland, Sweden. His mother's name was Anna Elisabeth.
Fred came to the United States on July 10, 1871. He was 29 years of age. He travelled on the ship "Britannia" from Glasgow - New York. His occupation was listed as a laborer and he rode in "steerage."

Frederick became a naturalized citizen on October 18, 1882. The document is from the common pleas court in New York County. At that time, his occupation was listed as "janitor."

In the late 1870's, he married Jane Proctor from Virginia, who was born around 1853. They had a daughter: Blanche Augusta Sophia Wallin, born in 1880 in Manhatten. I cannot find any information about what happened to him and have no other information about Jane Proctor. Can anyone help?
