Hi,

My Walls line connects with the Cherokee and Catawba in the early 19th century in SC. Edwin and Delila Walls started their family in Pendleton, SC then moved into GA ad TN and finally to Benton Co, AR around 1848. I'm not aware of a son named William, but William is a Walls family name.

It may be a stretch, but I'd like to compare notes with you. You can reach me directly at tomwalls@gmail.com.

I am searching for William Walls (his mother was full Cherokee), b. abt. 1830 in NC.: Married Caroline Green abt. 1845, TN; children: Taylor b. abt. 1850, and Elijah Edward, b. abt. 1852. Caroline and Taylor died. Her parents (Jeremiah and Rebecca Green) took Elijah from William and brought him to Texas. They raised him as a Green. He never saw his father again. Upon his marriage he was told his name was Walls. He found his father's second family and met several half siblings, but I don't know where. Could my William possibly be the same as your's. I have a picture of William with Taylor and Elijah.

Re: WALLS of madison Co., AL

Sorry about not posting an update to my initial query. It now appears that my John Anderson WALLS was born in SC, married Augusta Ann PRICE of Edgefield, went to Lincoln Co, Goshen P.O., for a short period between 1859-1862 and then returned to Edgefield Co., SC to live on the estate of his father-in-law on Stephens Creek where he remained until he died sometime in the 1890's. While in Lincoln Co, he lived next to Thomas WELLS, who was married in 1838 to Louisa WALLS- I do not know if there is a relationship there, but suspect Louisa may be a sister. Thomas WELLS did live in Edgefield prior to moving to GA, but married in Lincoln Co.
I still have not determined who Anderson WALLS parents were, but suspect that there is a relationship to the William WALLS who left Edgefield around 1801-02 and ended up in Madison Co, AL. My hypothesis is that Anderson was the nephew of the William that went to AL. That would leave John and Charles in SC at the time of Anderson's birth around 1822. Charles WALLS went to GA I believe as a GA Lottery Winner in 1827, so I am thinking that the parents of Anderson WALLS would have been John or one of his sons. John WALL died in 1820, so that leaves just a few candidates for his parents, notably James, Param/Parrum or David WALL, sons of John and Amy Hall; and William WALLS who was the overseer for Benjamin R. TILLMAN in Edgefield in 1847. I will not exclude a son of Sampson WALLS or Jeremiah WALLS either, but since they left Edgefield Co fairly early, I can't discount them but think one of the above families that remained in SC are probably a better fit. Unfortunately, there are next to no records of the WALLS in Edgefield from 1820-1860. David WALL died in 1847 intestate and there are no records that I have found so far that provide the names of his family. When Amy Hall WALL died, only some of her grandchildren were mentioned in the will and the probate court case that followed. I have found nothing on James WALL, and in the 1850 census Parram WALL did not list a son and I have not located a will for him either. The William WALLS mentioned as the Overseer for Benjamin Tillman was not listed in the 1850 census either.

William A Walls

I have info for William Walls.
According to the death cetificate for Nellie Walls(my grandmother) her father was W.A. Walls and her mother was Inez Smith. With this info I have tied the 1900 and 1920 census records together.

1900 census Montague County, TX
William A Walls (parents father-TN mother-TN)
Ines Walls
Gracie Walls
(James)Euell Walls
Jessee Walls
Auther(Arther) Walls
Elmer Walls

1920 census Montague County, TX
W.A. Wall(widowed) (parents father-GA mother-TN)
Willis S Wall
Albert D Wall
Brye(Bruce) Wall
Gracie Wall(I guess she lied about her age) Carl Wilson(Gracie's son from her former husband)
Nellie Benson
(Jasper Hugh)Lee Benson
Lela Benson(my aunt).

As for the parents of William Walls, I have found two possible sets of parents
1- John Washington Walls(TN) and Francis Ann Moulder(TN) in Benton county,AR. This is supported by the 1900 census

2- James T Wall(GA) and Margaret Hulda Rogers(TN) in Madison county, AR. This is supported by the 1920 census, and the WWI draft card for James E Wall has his birth as being in Madison County, AR.

I havn't been able to find a death date for William Walls yet but it's after 1920 and probably before 1930.

I too am a descendant of Edward Elijah Walls, Robert Brackson Walls, Joseph Andrew Walls, Edith May Walls (my mother). I have heared of this "Indian Headress" picture at a Walls family reunion that I attended in the 1970's. I understood that was in the "Ingram Home" in Lelia Lake, TX.
In any case I would love to have a copy of it. You might be interested in a copy of a picture of Edward Elijah Walls standing outside the house on the old walls farm near where he is buried. The angle of the picture clearly shows that he is "totting" his six-shooter.
I'm researching for a friend who I believe is a 1st cousin of yours. Her mom was India Frances Walls. I've found the family in Dallas in the 1930 census, head is Laura who is divorced. I think I've found John Walls' death in FamilySearch Records Search. b. 2/6/1915, d. 7/21/63 in Dallas of cihhhosis of liver. Also found death record for George Spencer Walls, Jr. b. 10/29/1891, d. 11/10/1948. George and Laura's children are:
Enid b. abt 1914
John b. abt 1915 (2/6/1915)
Joan b. abt 1918
India Frances b. 3/6/1918
George b. abt 1920
Howard b. abt 1922
David b. abt 1924
Aline or Aileen b. ?
Ijust sent a post but not sure it went thru. Ezekiel is my husbands gr-grandfather and we have been looking for information on the family for a long time. His father has dementia so we can't get any information there. My husband's grandmother was the daughter of Ezekiel's first wife. As far a I know her name was Tena Kickendall. Then he amrried Bea. Mexie (grandmother) was married to a Fletcher in Texas and then went to Washington and married a Jack Connors who we lost after 1930. So if there is any information on any one in the family it would be greatly appreceated. Thank you for posting what you did. That was a great help. bconn

I wish I could tell you for sure. My grandmother has Edward Walls married Mary Elizabeth Phillips. from Church Hills, MD. I know that he died about 1863-1864 and in the 1870 Census she was back living on her brother. Richard Phillip's farm in Church Hill. I can't find a marriage record for them, but I do find one for William Walls and Elizabeth Phillips. I cant find Elizabeth or Mary Elizabeth Walls with either Edward Walls or William Walls on the 1860 Census, but I find one with George T Walls and the children listed seem to be the right age and names. I have checked out George Washington Walls and know that he is not the right link. Yikes I am frustrated by these circles.... Do any of these names fit into your tree?

I have a Mary Elizabeth Phillips, from Church Hill, MD, married Edward Walls (my grandmother's notes)or George T Walls(probable per 1869 Census) or William (according to wedding records). He died about 1864. I have tried to connect him up with the Walls in Church Hill, but I am no longer convinced. So, wondering if there is an Edward, William or George T Walls from Delaware that matches. After she was widowed, her daughter married and moved to New Castle, Delaware and she went too.

Walls from York, UK

Hello
I am looking for the Walls family from York who were Roman Catholics. I am descended from Winifred Walls born in York, Yorkshire, UK in 1728, married John Burgess in 1761 and lived in Alne, North Yorkshire. So far, I have drawn a blank with Winifred and her family and any information would be great!
Thanks
Philippa

Hi get in touch with me through Email and i will give you every thing That I have

My name is Winsor Walls Age 72 and My Uncle Mason Walls raised his family in Millinocket Maine . I have a number of Howard walls in my tree and would be pleased to share what info that I have. The Howard walls that I met was from Millinocket Maine and he was married to a Blanchard . the other Howard was from California and I met him in Blackville NB Canada I think at a Walls Family reunion I believe. He was elderly then. I also have a Frank Walls with the Children that you mentioned .however the Howard walls in that family is a different one I think. I would be Pleased if you would give me the info as to how you connect to this Howard and you descendants and I will put you into my tree and forward to you a genealogy report from your youngest descendent through out his/her ancestors. I have about 8000 names Connected in some way to the Walls. I would also appreciate sharing your info with me as well.
After you receive the report I would appreciate it if you would send me any corrections that you are sure of in the Report. While it is not completely accurate i strive to make corrections where and when possible. It is always exciting to find another link and I am quite confident that you are a link.
I have had my DNA done so that I can trace my ancestors through that angle. Not too familiar yet with that process.
thank you for your interest
God Bless
Winsor Walls
Re: The WALLS Family of Delaware

"The Walls Family of Delaware" includes a few late 19th century families from Eastern Shore Maryland counties but nobody from Queen Anne's County. These Walls from the Eastern Shore are families that had drifted over from Delaware. It is possible that the Walls family of Delaware originated from some of the Walls families that lived in Maryland during the 17th century but no connection has ever been proved to my knowledge.

Lewis Kiehn
