Hello there. Many thanks for your message. My Mum's cousin, Martha McElrevey (1898-1986) married Albert William Jilek (1902-1951), in Philadelphia in 1925. Martha was born in Ballymoney in County Antrim in Ireland and she and her family sailed to America in 1902. Martha and Albert's daughter, Jean Jilek Smith is still alive and she lives in Broomall, Pennsylvania. If you would be interested, I can give you her e-mail address. I live in Northern Ireland. I have a photograph of the wedding of Albert and Martha, which I would be delighted to send to you. Edna is in the picture.
Regards
Mark

I think that this Mrs. Walraven could be the first wife of my grandfather. Her name was Edna C. Elizabeth Jilek Walraven - married Willard Walraven in 1923 - she had a brother Albert and her fathers name was Charles Jilek?

George Walraven b. in Delaware

I am trying to get any info on George Walraven who was a tailor. He fought in the War of 1812, was born in Wilmington, DE, lived in Knox Co. TN around 1834, and then was in New Orleans, LA around 1835. I'm guessing he was probably born about 1790. He was a friend/associate of my 3Ggrandfather, Duke Howell, who was also a tailor in Knox Co. TN. He testified as a witness on behalf of Duke in gaining his slave girl's emancipation. I've searched everywhere trying to find a "George," and other than "U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798-1914", I've come up dry. Does anyone know anything about this guy?

Re: Elizabeth Walraven Thomason

I've just learned of this lady in my tree. Based on notes I've collected from the web, she was born in 1774 in SC, d. abt. 1834 in Carnesville, Franklin Co., GA. She was m. to George Washington C. Thomason in 1797. He was b. 1771 and d. May 1856, Carnesville, Franklin County, GA.

I am descended from their son, Thomas Franklin Thomason who was m. to Sarah Ann "Sallie" Farmer.

Elizabeth's mother was a Cherokee Indian, b. abt. 1748 in SC, d. abt. 1834 in Franklin Co., GA. I don't know her name, nor her lineage.

Her father was John Walraven, b. 1743 in New Castle DE, d. abt. 1813, Murphy, NC. he was descended from Walraven Jansen De Vos b. abt 1685 in Holland. His (Walraven Jansen De Vos ) wife was Swedish.

John Walraven's parents were Jesper Walraven and Maria Snicker (Snecker). Jesper was b. 1693, d. July 21, 1761,New Castle, DE.

Jesper's parents were Gisbert Walraven (1683-1708) and Christina Peterson (1668-1743), New Castle DE.
Gisbert Walraven was a son of Walraven Jansen De Vos and
Christina Ollesdotter, b. abt. 1642 in Sweden, d. 1698, Safe Harbour, New Castle co., DE. Christina's parents were Olof Thorsson and Elice. Christina was also married to Timen Lulofsson Stidden\Stedham, son of Lulof Stidden\Stedham and Unknown. He was born 1610 in Hammell, Denmark, and died 1686 in Wilmington, Delaware

I look forward to sharing information about this ancestor on my father's side. I hope we can help each other. I have more info on the Thomasons's as there were more of them in the family.

I am also descended from George Washington Thomason (without the initial C. as with Elizabeth's husband). This Thomason was married to Neasie (Nicey) Caroline Payne.

Apparently your Isaac was a brother to my Elizabeth Walraven. I'm way down the line, probably about 4th great grand neice of Isaac.

My Elizabeth was married to George Washington C. Thomason.

I don't know the Cherokee names. I have several links to Cherokees and the families lived fairly close to each other, even though in other counties and across the state line.

The Smiths were in Oconee County, SC, near the Tugalo River. Another family of Smiths lived across the river to the northwest in Rabun County, GA. Smiths were also in Banks and Franklin counties, GA. They were part Cherokee, through Walraven and Maddox and Ward and probably other links.

Kindly let me know how I may help you. I'll welcome any help you can give.

Thx to Johnny Jacobs for the tips about Oglethorpe and Daniel Boone. Marcus Walraven was my grandmother's brother and I recall attending his last rites as a child. His brother Spurgeon also fought in WWI. How do I find out when he enlisted? I live in Texas and working on my tree is a fun and exciting project.

The link to James Oglethrope has proven to be illusive and undocumented per the research of many Walraven researchers.
The Daniel Boone link is good in Arkansas, not to the original Daniel Boone.
Marcus Lafayette Walraven is listed in Holland, Bell Co., Tx June 05, 1917 Draft registration.

Rob, My Walravens are from Holland but I really am just beginning my search on this branch of the family so my knowledge of them is limited. I know they came to the U.S. sometime between 1914 - 1917. My great grandmother is Pieternella Walraven, she came over with her parents and siblings (none of whom we know anything about where they settled which is why I'm looking!!) Her siblings are Marinus Walraven, Marie Walraven, Adrianna Walraven, and Jennie Walraven. My gr. grandmother settled in Boston, Mass, but I don't know if the other siblings settled there or not. Let me know if you think there's a connection, and if not, good luck with your search!!

Thank you for the offer but at this time I am going crazy trying to recapture lost data and would not know what to ask. Elizabeth was married to one of my husbands ancestors. The family for me was the Bellamy's Their area of residence seems to have been mostly Franklin Co Ga around Toccoa Ga and northern Ga. It may help you to get on world tree and check the data I entered on the Gilbert Bellamy side of the family Popwhiting can fill in some blanks on the Bellamy's also. Let me check with them and see if it is ok to give out their e mail addy's or you may find some of their postings on the message boards. Give me a day or so and I will see what I can do to help. Thank for your contact and I will get back with you.

Hi Kim, I'm Rick Walraven, I believe we are related, My dad is Donald Walraven, My Grandfather Andrew M. Walraven died on May 2, 1970 at the age of 73 in No. IL., My Grandmother Ines J. Storm Walraven died in 1973 at the age of 78. Her family is from No. IL. My Aunt Ruby told me he was born in Henryville Indiana around 1897-98 and left home at age 13 never to return there . She also told me he had a brother named John Walraven that lived in Highland Park IL. that died in the early 1980's , I was young when my Grandparents passed so unfortunately I didn't get to ask the questions that I want to today. My Grandfather would never talk about his past so I wish I knew more about of our family tree. If anyone knows anything else please post.
