This message is for Rob Anderson, in Sydney, whose site I ran across when I googled Blayney Townley Walshe, my great grandfather, who emigrated from New Ross, Ireland to New Orleans, in the 1850s. I have our complete family history back to my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather Richard Walsh of Ardagh and his wife Mary who both died in 1709. I am directly descended from the first BTW (family records state,"Lt. Col. Royal Artillery was at the taking of many of the West Indian Islands under Sir Charles Gray and others. Died 1839." His wife was Anna, daughter of Hugh Crawford, of Belfast. They had three sons, my great, great grandfather Captain Anthony Walsh, married to Jane Carr, of New Ross, (whose sister Francis married Bernard Shaw - George Bernard Shaw's grandfather). Their son, Capt. Blayney Townley Walshe, my great grandfather, as I say, came to New Orleans to attend to his father's import-export business and stayed. His son, Frank Seymour Walshe, was my grandfather. His daughter Stella was my mother. Is this of any help to you? This is the first I have heard of an Australian connection but surely, we must be related. You can contact me at fbirney@gmail.com. My middle name is Walshe. By the way, the "e" on our name, family lore, comes from the Anglecizing of Major-General George Walsh's name when he was knighted for his military heroism after his death in 1761. His memorial tablet is in the East Cloister at Westminster Abbey, in London, which I visited last month. Hope this reaches you. All the best, Frank Walshe Birney

Walshe and/or Donnelly from Ireland

My grandparents were Richard Francis Walshe (born in Currie Minnesota) and Ellen Teresa Hanrahan (born in New Brunswick, 1899).

My grandfather's parents were Edward P. Walshe and Annie Donnelly. Edward P was born in Ireland in January 1857, and I believe Annie was born in Sheffield England about 1856. My grandfather left me with the impression Annie's parents were from Ireland also.

Edward P and Annie lived in Currie, Minnesota for awhile, - I don't know if they met there or immigrated together. Currie is listed as the birth place for their oldest children born between 1892 and 1896.They moved to Kamloops area of British Columbia in 1897, then between 1902 and 1906 moved to Macleod Alberta where they ranched. Edward P died about 1916.

Annie raised their children (William M J, Francis P, Richard F, Walter J and Mary G) and remained on the family ranch until she died in 1942. Her funeral was attended by her 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Joyce of San Francisco and Mrs. Nellie Howard of California; and her brother William Donnelly of McMinnville, Oregon.

Would love to trace the family history further back - does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Barry,

I am researching Doyles of South County Leitrim. One of these, Mary Anne Doyle, born in 1876, the daughter of Francis Doyle and Bridget Shields, was living with a William Sesnan, in Errew, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim at the time of the 1901 Census of Ireland. Her father died and her mother remarried - to William Sesnan in 1885. Both William Sesnan and Mary Anne Doyle had vanished from the area by the time of the 1911 census. By any chance, do you know anything of this Sesnan?

Regards

Tom

Hi Kath,
I am a descendat of John Sesnan Walshe, so a distant cousin of Julie's and also in Australia. We would love to know more about the Sesnan connection, but what Julie has said is virtually all we know. In Griffith's Valuation there are lots of Sesnans in the townland of Calry in county Sligo. The name Sesnan is also in the Sligo Hearth Money Roll of 1659. Orinially I think it was French. Are you able to trace the birthplaces of your grandparents and their parents? That would help us work out if we are connected.
Emma

Does anyone out there have Thomas Walshe born circa 1867, and Lillian born circa 1895 in their family tree? It appears that Thomas was born in Ireland and emigrated in 1881 but Lillian was born in New York- not sure if they were father/child or sister/brother. They have some connection with Elizabeth and John Fitzpatrick, and all of them were living on 162nd Street NY in 1910. Thomas worked as a laborer at Ellis Island.
Regards Barbara.

May be no connection with yours but worth declaring. Blayney lived mostly in Ballarat. He was a civil engineer and surveyor. Worked first the gold mines then the railways. Blayney's father was William Walshe and his Grandfather was Blayny Townley Walshe, a Leiutenant Colonel in the Royal Artillery. Blayney married in Victoria and had (with Harriet) 13 children. It seems that Blayney was born in Dublin.
Walshe (with an "e") is not all that common so that the common arrival period could be relevant. Contact me if you wish. I live in Sydney.
Regards,
Rob Anderson

Hello Kathleen,

My connection to the Sesnan's is through my second Great Grand father John Sesnan WALSHE born 1832 in County Sligo. Now his mother I believe was Mary SESNAN and unfortunately I have no other information on her other than she married Patick WALSHE and of course John was her son.
By the way I live in Australia.

Walshe's

I am looking for any Walshe's. My Great Great Grand father was John Sesnan Walshe, his wife was Mary Walshe (nee Sesnan), hey came from Sligo and Galway, Ireland. The family came to Australia in about 1854 and lived in Melbourne. John was killed in Victoria trying to save a Politician and a George Paton-Smith tried to help him. John's son James David Walshe was born in Victoria and he married a woman Ann Paton (Annie Grey Paton). So I am looking for anyone who can help with the names of Walshe, Paton or Sesnan.

DATA: Walshe, Dorothy May listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Walshe, Dorothy May (Dot)

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Hello - I am searching for family members of John Joseph Walshe born in Kilrush, 2/1929. I just recently found out that he has passed away. But, I also found out that he has a sister named Kay and another sister (name unknown) in Kilrush, Ireland and possible a brother. His parents name were Chris and Mary Breen. He married my mother Maggie Breen from Cooraclare, Ireland. I also heard that he did remarry after my parents divorced and lived in England somewhere and I could possibly have half sisters or brothers out there. This man was my biological father whom I never met but I would love with all my heart meet his family so I can get to know my father thru them. If anyone can help me I would forever appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Kate (Kathleen)

I am searching for my father John Joseph Walshe can anyone please help!!

I am looking for my father whom I have never met. I know he was born in Ireland either Clare or Kilrush. He married Maggie Breen and came to the United States and had 4 children 3 girls and one boy. They got divorced shortly after I was born in 1964 and my mother wont tell me anything about him. My mother did remarry to a man call Chet Benson whom John (my father knew) and he adopted me and my brother. I only know that he John was born in February,1930's (the year is questionable) he did serve in the Army in the US -- he lived in Texas, New York, and Massachusetts. I heard he remarried and had more children in England and that he was killed in England somewhere in a bar -- stabbed to death but I cannot confirm this. I do not want anything from my father I just want him to know that even though I do not know him I do Love him and he has two beautiful grandchildren from me. I would love to know his family both his wife and children and his brothers or sisters. I sincerely hope someone can help me. You can e-mail me at jbalis8111@aol.com. Thank you in advance.
