Surnames: Walter, Walters
I am looking for any information on John Walter(s), born (as Walter) in 1849 in Shepton Mallet, Somersetshire, England. He married Ellen Applebee in 1872 and moved to Tallmadge, OH in 1880. John died in 1899, and is buried in Tallmadge.
I know of 8 children by John and Ellen. The males were named: Darwin, Herbert, Albert and Ernest. Ernest died in 1899. I do not know the names of the female children.
I know that John became a naturalized citizen in 1886 and still retained the surname Walter. The surname became Walters in 1899 by his children after his death.
I am especially looking for information prior to his coming to the United States. I cannot find anything prior to 1880 except the marriage date.
Any information you could provide would be apprieciated.
